Jordan Hill Has a Herniated Disc in His Back

The Los Angeles Lakers aren’t saying much, and Jordan Hill claims that it’s no big deal. But a herniated disc in a player’s back is always cause for concern. Per the OC Register: “Jordan Hill has a herniated disc in his back, and it has not been determined whether he will need surgery to repair it. Hill will be re-evaluated in a week, but the prospect of missing him for an extended period of time is a major concern for a Lakers team expecting for Hill to be the primary backup for starters Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol. Hill has also been cited by Lakers coach Mike Brown as a bright spot in the early days of training camp, showing he merits even more than token filler minutes. [...] Hill could be seen in pain and holding a heating pad to his back on the Lakers’ bench late in the game Sunday night in Fresno. The Lakers have been working Antawn Jamison primarily at small forward, but if Hill is sidelined for a lengthy period, they might have to change plans to play him more at power forward or alter the makeup of the roster to have additional size.”
