Kevin Love Plans to Score Less and Pass More This Season

Kevin Love is pumped about the Minnesota Timberwolves, and he thinks the best way to help his squad is by scoring less and dishing the ball to his teammates. Love says he will be in a “giving mood” this season. From the Pioneer Press: “I’ve already had that thought process that my numbers might go down,’ Love said. ‘I will always be productive in whatever system I play in, but it feels great to have other options now. I’m ready to do whatever it takes for us to win games.’ [...] The Wolves appear to be significantly better after adding Brandon Roy and Andrei Kirilenko and improving the depth at forward with veterans Chase Budinger and Dante Cunningham. Even without playmaker Ricky Rubio for at least the first two months of the season, the Wolves are viewed as a rising team in the West. Head coach Rick Adelman is counting on Roy and Kirilenko to help ease the scoring load on Love, who scored 30 or more points in 19 games last season and hit the 40-point mark three times. [...] In a short time, Love has placed himself among some of the league’s elite players. If the Wolves develop a balanced offense this season, a priority for Adelman, Love is prepared to play a less-demanding role. ‘It feels good to be a setup man,’Love said. ‘I’ve been finding guys all week in camp. You might see a drop in points because of the guys we have now, but you might see a spike in my assists. I’ll be in the giving mood this season.’”

Love was an absolute beast in fantasy last year. I’m not sure he can duplicate that production with this supporting cast.

Man, he can do it all…Now if only he could block shots…

KLove should improve his defense first..and then his FG%, leave assist for Rubio..

The best player who doesn’t make the playoffs.

thanks for getting back to me about JA stefansson. i actually played in the same tournament as him when i was really young, a tournament that had the best teams in scandinavia. he was playing with the guys a year older than him and was still killing. he is born 82 right? i was going to challange your claim about him being the best nordic gurad ever, then i realized how much scandinavia sucks at basketball. i was going to say christian dreijer, who i played against in that same tournament. but i don’t know what happened to him after he left florida for fcb.

    ‘…I’m ready to do
whatever it takes for us to win games.’ then he better focuses on improving his D

Drejer is 6’9, more of a forward. I has honestly forgotten about him though. It seems Nordic “studs” are better suited for pro ball in Spain than NCAA div 1 or the NBA, Haukur Pálsson would be a recent example.

Does this team remind anyone else of some of Adleman’s Kings teams from the Mid 00′s?

would be great to see love avg around 22pts, kirelenko, chase, roy and rubio to avg between 14-18pts… plus the usual rubio highlights… hopefully then can sneak into the playoffs

ok i just remember dreijer as a big guard back then. no idea who pålsson is, i pretty much stopped following domestic ball over here when i stopped playing. but i remember that iceland always used to send some killer teams to scania cup in södertälje, pretty impressive in relation to the population of the country compared to the rest of scandinavia.

    and get awfull tattoos?

Who cares about assists and points. Just win games.

Yup. A lot like them, which makes sense. Except Rubio is nothing like Bibby.

Maybe, instead of focusing solely on getting rebounds, try and contest a shot at the rim instead of worrying about getting more assists.

  • LakeShow

    Which is a good thing.
In some ways anyway. They need shooters because of it though.
Outside of K-Love, Chase Bud is their best 3 point shooter… Not a good thing.

    exactly

  • Marcos Garcia

how funny! kobe says the oppostie thing

  • daBIZ

He’s never going to block a ton of shots — or slide his feet particularly well. Everybody has holes in their game. But, something tells me, Adleman will forgive a man who averages 23/14/4.5 (assist spike!) for blowing a few defensive assignments.

  • daBIZ

Chase Bud is a really nice 3-pt option though. Is AK-47 their Doug Christie?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

I’m just implying his shot selection is not the issue

  • LakeShow

How many minutes do you want Bud in your lineup? Top 20 minutes a night right?
That’s only good for about 3 or 4 attempts in the flow of the game. He can’t make up for everyone else being poor.
