Mavericks Suspend Delonte West Again and ‘Indefinitely’

For the second time this month, the Dallas Mavericks announced that they have suspended backup guard Delonte West. There’s no timetable for his return. West has written some of his thoughts on the matter on his Twitter page. Per the Dallas Morning News: “We have suspended Delonte for conduct detrimental to the team,’ President of Basketball Operations Donnie Nelson said. ‘The suspension is effective immediately and no other statements will be issued.’ That was the bulk of the release just issued by the Mavericks. [...] West suffers from bipolar disorder, but he is supposed to be on medication to help control that problem. After a home game earlier this preseason, West was suspended for conduct detrimental to the team when he avoided the team on the bench and then made matters worse in the locker room afterward.”

“Conduct detrimental to the team,” i.e. 9.6 ppg, 3.2 asst, 1.7 turnovers. If you aren’t putting up 20 & 10, then don’t even breathe the wrong way.

    Are you kidding me?

On a serious note, this will be his last NBA contract. Good player but too much to worry about, and if the league didn’t want to keep dealing with Allen Iverson, hard to see teams agreeing to put up with Delonte West.

Unprofessional Delonte…you are making yourself look like a fool! Just like Trump did yesterday when he brought up the 5 mil to Obama. I swear 20% of Americans are psychopaths lol. Especially here in California.

Is suspending this guy really gonna help? He needs a team that’s willing to help him out and work with him not kick him to the curb for any little thing

life ain’t fair & you’re right about this.

LOL he should take it to help unfortunate people out but I think, from a politician’s standpoint, that he should just disregard his statement and offer altogether.

Send this guy to John Lucas’s rehab program for no less than 8 months. He needs a big, swift kick in the ass.

Are you aware that your name says “I an”?

He was probably tripping over playing time. I haven’t seen what kind of tic he was getting but you gotta assume that between OJ and Vince, backcourt minutes were thin and this dude was on the last year of a contract that pays him the league minimum and his financial situation was so bad he was working at some furniture store during the lockout. This is a care of Motivation Due To Impending Free Agency Gone Wrong. Probably the 1st in league history.

Life ain’t fair and playing in the NBA isn’t a right. Some dudes just never figure it out. West has documented mental health issues, but he still has to be a pro.
