Brandon Jennings Wants Coach Scott Skiles to Stop Benching Starters in 4th Quarter

Here’s the latest chapter in the uneasy co-existence between Brandon Jennings and the Milwaukee Bucks. The starting point guard tells the press that head coach Scott Skiles needs to plug in the starters during winning time (something Skiles has not done the last two games.) Per the Journal Sentinel: “The Bucks point guard has not played in the final period of the last two games. On Monday in Chicago a group of five reserves brought the Bucks back from a 27-point third-quarter deficit for a remarkable 93-92 victory over the Bulls. And on Wednesday against the New York Knicks, Bucks coach Scott Skiles went with that same group to start the final quarter as the Bucks trailed, 88-70, in an eventual 102-88 defeat. ‘We’ve got to play the fourth to get that back,’ Jennings said of any missing rhythm with the starting unit. ‘With New York they were full strength, a three-point shooting team and they just had it going.’ The Bucks starters struggled at the start of the third quarter in the last two games. Milwaukee trailed the Bulls by 10 at halftime on Monday but that quickly became a 27-point hole before the reserves came to the rescue. Against the Knicks, the Bucks were trailing, 58-48, at halftime. New York went on a 10-0 run at the start of the third quarter to take control and eventually bumped the lead to 22 points late in the third quarter. None of the Bucks starters played in the fourth quarter while Beno Udrih, Mike Dunleavy, Ekpe Udoh and Doron Lamb each played the entire period.”

i hear you… that skiles bulls team reminds me of lobber town.

imo, ben gordon & skiles did not get along, ben wallace did not meet high expectations, they were young, tyrus was injured, and they did not perform well to start the year he got canned. Not to mention they traded away the rights to aldridge who was doing well which just added to the pressure…

Not mentioning skiles is cut from the Sloan loaf o’bread.

yup. a player shouldnt tell a coach how to do his job tho. i think skiles does that for some reason. maybe they refuse to do what he commands them to do n maybe the bench guys bring more effort. who knows

I wonder how much of this is about winning or about upping his stats and his status for a much more lucrative contract.
