Michael Jordan Explains Cargo Shorts Incident at Golf Club

A snooty golf club in Miami asked Michael Jordan to change out of his cargo shorts, which MJ refused to do. Hilariously, His Airness deigned to open up about the fashion faux pas on the links. Per ESPN: “I’ve been there many times and no one told me a thing,’ Jordan said. ‘Then all of a sudden they come to me on the 11th hole and say I can’t wear cargo shorts. Wow! The round is almost over and you want me to buy shorts now? Yeah, right!!’ After declining to change, Jordan reportedly continued his round, but it could be his last at the club. A report in the New York Post quoted a source saying that Jordan, a Chicago Bulls Hall of Famer and owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, would not be invited back. ‘No problem!!’ Jordan replied. A spokesman from La Gorce Country Club said its president was on vacation and declined comment at this time. An employee in the pro shop said that required attire is: ‘a collared shirt and golf shorts or pants, no cargo or denim. If there are pockets on the outside, it’s not allowed.’”

If I were MJ I would have started to pull down my pants and take a sh*t while dude was telling me the cargo shorts were not appropriate for golfing.

“No problem” Jordan replied. And thought to himself “I’m buyin this sh1t”

I heard that taking a dump on grass is good for the vegetation. So MJ would actually be doing them a favor.

No cargo shorts or denim is SOP at many PRIVATE golf clubs. It’s his host’s responsibility to advise his guest of the dress code. I’d be surprised if he’d played there before in cargos. His host would have been reprimanded. But once MJ was out on the course, it was bad form to interrupt his round.

I guarantee you that plenty of people saw the shorts before he teed off. I fault the club staff for being intimidated by basketball royalty and not bringing the infringement to the host’s attention.

What I find most surprising is that MJ is a member at Medinah and probably several other clubs with similar dress codes. He knows better. I think he was proving that he is above the rules.

This is why golf is the stupidest, most snobby sport in the world. Maybe next to Polo–the kind you play on horseback, not water.
