Vince Carter Would Like to End His Career in Toronto

Before it all went to hell, Vince Carter became a superstar in Toronto (the Raptors’ first and only player to ever reach such an exulted status.) VC, soon-to-be 36, says that he would welcome the opportunity to play for the Raptors again as his NBA career winds down. Per TSN Radio 1050: “After admitting to being open to the possibility of returning in some form to the team that acquired him on draft day in 1998, current Dallas Maverick and former Toronto Raptor Vince Carter again attempted to reconcile with the city and team he was traded from nearly eight years ago. Since not long after the departure, Carter has attempted to patch the wounds he left behind as his career in Toronto wound down, repeatedly saying he loved the city and enjoyed the six years he spent there. [...] ‘If (Toronto) gave me the opportunity, I don’t even think I’d let them finish the question. Yes. I’m in,’ Carter said. ‘Could I see it? Absolutely,’ Carter continued. ‘I’d leave that up to the franchise. It all started in Toronto, I’d be a fool to ever forget that.’ At this point, Carter’s feelings are known, but the question is, how would Raptors fans feel about the return of the franchise’s greatest player to date? Has enough time passed to forgive and forget the moments that defined his last days in the city, or are basketball fans still bitter over the way things transpired in his final days, culminating in his one-sided trade to the New Jersey Nets?”

so i roll out of my igloo this morning and hear this, we smoke the good chronic up here so we forgot about his ass a while ago….we hate bosh now, come on back vince, and open that club in T.O. again, that place had the finest asian girls in it

  • T-DotKid

Do it!!!! Allen Iverson last played in Philly and it was nice even though it was just 25 games, VC needs to finish his career and be appreciated and Toronto is the place for that. There was a time he was everyones hero and everyone had his jersey.

Mahfaqua’s need to realize it can be better being the Great White in the small pond that is Cdn BBall, than just another sardine that’s trapped in a can, that’s trapped in a box in the aisle in Safeway if you venture down to the major markets…shhhiiiiit especially when that small pond is on the back of a whole country.

Well…he cant be worse than LAndry Fields is this year. Plug him into the SF spot, why not. Also, its pretty obvious that Vince is doing this so that he gets the recognition he wants and has his jersey retired when he retires, as no other team is going to be doing it.

screw it, bring VC & T-Mac and let em finish off in T-dot

  • Lou Sassole

He’s not coming back to Toronto…He just knows how to get a rise out of us crazy Raptor fans…plus why would anybody in Toronto want this clown back?

  • fox

basically anyone’s career already ended when you sign with toronto

  • Dymez

I can’t stand when players who are currently playing for one team talk about playing for another, especially in the 2nd damn week of the season. Cut it out! Just shut up and dodge the question. Address it during free agency.

  • meto

T.O has some sick chronic. Our kush is just toooooo nice man. And our asain woman? DAMNNNNN sooo yummmmmy

  • LeroyShonuff

If he does come back, Maybe he can lay it up on a fast break for old times sake

  • whitemancantjump

The fault wasn’t Vince Carter’s alone; the Raps had a miserable GM back in the day. He traded VC for nothing.

  • spit hot fiyah

they should get VC, mugsy bouges and charles oakley, maybe even zan tabak. tehy would still probably be younger than the knicks

If he can somehow end up back in a Raptors jersey, why not? I’m sure the fans would love to have him back just like how Philly returned AI for that one season..

  • Randy Matchoman Sandwich

this is bull, I listened to this interview and he did not mention returning to play, only that he would be honoured to have his number retired if that was offered

  • 99DinosBestEVR

Totally with you… would be a fitting end to a couple of once thought to be HOF-destined careers that went south… lol literally

  • Chukaz

If i was running Toronto I’d do it. He could help out Dermar DeRozan. Best case scenario, DeRozan ends up being like Kobe. Worst best case scenario he’s Vince. Worst case scenario he’s travis outlaw, but shorter

  • IknowYouknow

For the kinda loot they gave Olajuwon to retire, yes VC would come back to retire too. But, VC was great here, the sight of Air Canada again would be crazy…..Vince might even get so hyped and attempt the never before seen 720-btw-the-legs-windmill…….sure, sticking the landing on this stunt would most likely put him out for the season, but it sure would be worth it.

there you go, lets start up a petition!

  • Jones

Only if they go back to there REAL colors which are purple and red…not copy cats of the Bulls with red and black. Why is it so hard for teams to keep there REAL colors?

  • Brad Cordova

Yeah the Mavericks are going to retire his jersey for being the best 6th man in the league lol jk haha i totally agree with that being a factor in why he wants to go back to Toronto.

  • Bubuh

Why would Toronto pick up a wash up player Jeez… He just wants his number up in the rafter (any rafter). I hate those players that demanded to be traded to a different team because they cannot progress from where they are.

The fact that VC plays better than when AI returns to Philly.. They will benifit from VC from the Bench..Do it!

  • http://www.facebook.com/starkpwnsyou Joshua Maria Peter Bautista

…and bring back AI in Philly! Then Steph Marbury in Minny! Hell, Steve Francis in Houston! That could all work!

    hahaha. lets become agents

  • Basketball_iQ

Vince, when you left Toronto, your career was already over.
