Brandon Jennings Thought He Would Fight Rajon Rondo

Things became testy on Friday night between Rajon Rondo and Brandon Jennings, to the point where the Milwaukee Bucks point guard thought a fight would break out. Cooler heads, though, would prevail. Per the Journal Sentinel: “Brandon Jennings and Rajon Rondo were exchanging not-so-pleasantries in the first quarter Friday night in Boston. And that was a decidedly good sign for the Bucks as they went on to a 99-94 victory overtime victory against the Celtics. Jennings responded to a not-so-gentle nudge from Rondo and the trash talking commenced. ‘It was the first quarter,’ Jennings said. ‘I thought at one point we were going to start fighting, but nobody wants to give up that money.’ Besides, the Bucks didn’t have an experienced backup point guard with rookie Doron Lamb the primary relief for Jennings. Lamb played only 6 minutes while Jennings played 48 and finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. […] After the Bucks won the season opener in Boston, Jennings said he felt Rondo had ‘owned’ him in previous years. But Jennings started to change that with 21 points, 13 assists and six steals as the Bucks prevailed that night. […] Rondo had six points, 11 assists and four steals in 45 minutes. But he didn’t dominate the game as he had done in the past against Milwaukee. ‘I just tried not to get caught up in it,’ Jennings said. ‘He’s going to talk mess. That’s who Rondo is as a point guard. The main thing is, you’ve just got to keep going at him. I knew I wasn’t 100% tonight so why not just go out there and try to get a triple-double.'”
