Charles Barkley Compares the New York Knicks to Playboy Bunnies

TNT’s Charles Barkley will be on hand for the Lakers/Knicks game at MSG tonight, helping Marv Albert and Steve Kerr call the action. Almost grudgingly, Sir Charles pays respect to New York’s rising hoops team, in his own special way. Per Newsday: “I think they’re a good team, and I think Jason Kidd has had a huge effect on Raymond Felton and J.R. Smith,’ Barkley said. ‘But when I look at their stats, they only outrebounded the teams they’ve played like twice. That concerns me. And I don’t know if they can keep shooting threes like that. That’s my only critique. It’s not a criticism, it’s a critique.’ Entering Wednesday night, the Knicks ranked third in the NBA in three-point field-goal percentage at .409 and 27th in rebounding differential at minus-3.8. Hence Barkley’s stance on the looming question for the Knicks: What to do with Amar’e Stoudemire? ‘Even though they’re winning, they are getting killed on the boards,’ he said. ‘So is he going to help them with the defense and rebounding or not? That’s a very simple question for me.’ [...] Barkley conceded the Knicks’ revival is good for the NBA, and will be even more so ‘if Brooklyn can ever keep that [Brook] Lopez kid healthy,’ for the sake of the teams’ budding rivalry. Un the meantime, it’s enough that the Knicks are better. Even Charles thinks so! Mostly. ‘Everybody in New York thinks the Knicks are Playboy bunnies, and I have been telling them for years the Knicks are a rabbit,’ he said. ‘They’re closer to a Playboy bunny this year but for the last few years these guys are like, ‘We have a really good team!’ And I say, ‘You really think that?’ And I say, ‘No, they don’t.’ But this is the best team they’ve had in a while.’”

The New York Knicks compare Charles Barkley to Broom Hilda.

Weird analysis but it makes sense. As a Knicks fan I’m happy to watch them now and actually believe they are a solid team instead of the charade that MSG put on for years past that the club had a shot at contention.

i am not a NY fan or DAL fan, but DAL did just what NY is doing now.

its up to melo to play at a MVP level for NY to go all the way.

  • danpowers

hm if we use ainimals to describe people, chuck would be porky pig. love him for talking all this sh*t tho, just always annoying when it hits the own camp lol

  • Redd

I agree, they won’t keep this up more than likely.

I think they will keep this up…the difference for them this year is all of the veterans…The only way I see them blowing this is with some bad, bad injuries.

    oink oink.

For someone that criticize teams. How many NBA championships has Barkley won?

Oh I’m sorry NONE. He’s the TNT IDIOT.

Damn…the Knicks have some sensitive fans.

He isn’t an idiot, he actually has a really good insight to basketball and knows the game as well as anybody.

  • coggie13

the difference is Dirk was 7 foot and no one could mark him in the finals. I think a 6’8 swingman can be shut down a lot easier. (albeit it is not a given.)

yeah i agree. i wanna laugh but then im like shut up chuck!

laugh if you want but i think Melo is harder to cover than Dirk was when he won the chip. there were a couple games by Dirk that were superhuman but i feel like Melo can bust that sh*t out too.

  • coggie13

I agree Melo can kill it. I suppose the only way to know is to see it. They mightn’t even get out of the east. Lebron Vs. Melo would again be dope.

We also have online stalkers. You do a lot of that I’ve noticed. For somebody all the way from west bubblefcuk you’re always so concerned about what Knick fans are doing/saying. Go find a team, loser.

Barkley never won enough as a player for me to care about his opinions.

yeah for sure. they both made that series entertaining even though it was a blow out. i agree, they probably wont beat miami but they could change my mind if they start to get better when Shump and Stat come back into the line up. i’m an optimistic Knicks fan.

no. Noone was harder to guard than Dirk when he won the chip. Probably since Shaq in the finals early last decade (00′s) or even since Jordan. It was unbelievable.

  • coggie13

The thing about being out rebounded by about 4 boards is pretty big.. Sixers over both, thanks!!

yeah you are probably right but the way he has being recently makes me think its possible.
