DeMarcus Cousins Has Lost His Confidence

The Sacramento Kings are on a three-game losing streak, and center DeMarcus Cousins (whose rebounding and scoring numbers are down) says that he is discouraged by his play this season. The third-year pro is beating himself up over his struggles. Per the Sac Bee: “So what’s wrong with DeMarcus Cousins anyway? His game, not his attitude. What happened to his game? One month into his third season with the Kings, the Big Cuz is in a massive funk. His numbers are down in all the pertinent categories. He isn’t running the floor with the same energy or commitment of last season. He repeatedly is finding himself in foul trouble and on the bench, or in trouble with his coach and on the bench. And he doesn’t have any answers. ‘I’ve been terrible,’ Cousins said bluntly but softly. ‘We’re losing. I don’t feel like I made improvements from last year. I really don’t have any confidence at all. I’m just trying to think my way through it, but right now, I’m not finding anything.’ Based on Cousins’ own personal growth chart, this was supposed to be a year of appreciable professional development. He came to training camp talking about the All-Star Game, about pushing the Kings toward the playoffs, about taking what he learned from his experiences with Team USA into the 2012-13 season.”

their roster is a mess. trade should be coming up soon. overload at to many possitions, and wholes at others.

  • Hursty

I agree that trades are necessary, but there have to be 4 or 5 of them. There are so many issues with this team that a single trade of Thornton or Evans or anyone else won’t solve it. It could take 2/3 years to really clean house (again) and start fresh with a new core.

No matter what Cousins does, the Kings aren’t making the playoffs. After standing up for himself in the Sean Elliott dustup he now one of the Shock Exchange’s favorite players. And taking responsibility for his play and not throwing teammates / coaches under the bus is the first step in turning his season around.

The whole organization is trash. Ownership, the arena they play in, their uniforms. Everything. Needs to be completely rebuilt. A few talented players. Absolutely no direction.

The roster certainly is a mess. It could take another season or two to purge the team and start anew.

    rough opinion. brutal.

okay… so if SAC moves to Virginia… they end up in the Eastern Conference… who ends up switching to the Western Conference?

    Does CHA go to Seattle?

  • Caboose

Hasn’t stopped him from hoisting like he’s Andray Blatche from 2010.

  • Caboose

As someone who lived in Sac until he was 18, I can confirm all of this. The Kings have become essentially a parody of what they were 10 years ago.

  • theDankerNuggets

No vets to show him how to improve and help the team in ways other than scoring…

I grew up in sac too. I used to be a kings fan when i was young, but around middle school I actually started following the game and paying attention to detail. They traded Bobby Jackson (Favorite player of all time) and that was it for me. They’re just terrible. Giving contract extensions to people like Francisco Garcia, horrible draft picks, the Maloofs and the entire organization just constantly make boneheaded moves and don’t seem to be serious about winning.

    Just look at their drafting:
2005: Francisco Garcia. Still available: David Lee, Ersan, Bass, Monta, Lou Will, Gortat.
2006: Quincy Douby. Still available: Rondo, Lowry, Shannon Brown, Millsap.
2007: Spencer Hawes. Still available: Thad Young, Stuckey, Wilson Chandler, Afflalo, Landry, Big Baby, Marc, Sessions.
2008: Jason Thompson. Still available: Hibbert, Batum, Courtney Lee, Ibaka, Ryan Anderson, Pekovic, DeAndre, Asik.
2009: Tyreke Evans. Still available: Rubio, Jennings, Curry, Jrue, Lawson
2009: Omri Casspi. Still available: Mullens, Roddy, Taj, Blair, Marcus Thornton
2010: Demarcus Cousins. Good pick. Still available: Monroe, George
2011: Jimmer Fredette. Still available: Brandon Knight, Kemba, Klay, Kawhi, Shumpert, Faried, Parsons.
2012: Thomas Robinson. Still available: Lillard, Barnes.

Imagine a team of: Rondo, Curry, Batum, Monroe, and Gasol. Nope, instead it’s, well, this mess.

    Love the drafting chart
Rajon Rondo, Tyreke Evans, Kawhi Lenord, Demarcus Cousins, Roy Hibbert, with lillard could have been nice

  • LaLa

Good lord. That team would be solidddd.

    (Quincy Douby..lmao)
