Derrick Rose to Start Practicing Soon With the Chicago Bulls?

by Marcel Mutoni@marcel_mutoni

The Chicago Bulls have played valiantly without Derrick Rose so far this season, managing to hover above .500 so far (8-7). They might soon be getting a much-needed boost, if the latest reports out of the Windy City are to be believed.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Rose may start taking part in team practices within a few weeks:

According to an NBA source, while ‘‘The Return’’ to the court for NBA games is still up in the air for Rose, the all-everything point guard could be just weeks away from practicing with the Bulls again after surgery on his left anterior cruciate ligament last May. ‘‘That’s the belief that a couple of [the Bulls’] players are under,’’ the source said.

Rose has been expected to be able to play in games by February, but that has been inferred more than actually stated. Even if the Bulls receive the ultimate Christmas present of getting him back on the practice court just before Dec. 25, it doesn’t mean he’s necessarily ahead of that February schedule — or behind it. Asked Monday if there was a specific timetable for Rose to start practicing, general manager Gar Forman answered in a text message: ‘‘We’re still taking the process step by step, and a date hasn’t been set.’’

Since last month, Derrick Rose has been cutting on his surgically-repaired left knee and he is now running sprints inside the Bulls’ training facility.

It’s encouraging news for the Chicago Bulls and their fans, but as the Daily Herald wisely cautions, there’s a reason the team has yet to commit to a return date: there are many more hurdles to hop over before Derrick Rose can truly be back.

Good news for us D-Rose fans. I still say no games until next year though. No need to rush him. Not with the bench they have and Boozer still isn’t earning his money. Rose would have to come back and engineer the offense by himself again. Too much for one man.

does anyone have a league pass account that i can use to watch the games online with? i dont have cable and i need to watch the games.

  • None

No need to rush man, take your time, your carrier is more important than a single season

  • roscoe

have you heard of a sports bar?

  • superstar23

*career wow.. Really man? Your grammar is that bad?

  • pposse

The first couple games he plays will be tense for Bulls/Rose fans. I’m hoping Gar Formeman and Thibs doesn’t announce D Rose’s return at all until the day of. Hopefully this way the major networks won’t get a chance to broadcast the game, atleast this way a couple million more eyes won’t have access to watch and there will be less pressure to perform right away.

  • Redd

It’s spelling and he might be on his phone, so just stop it.

  • Fat Lever

I would say don’t rush him, but based on Adrian Peterson’s somewhat miraculous return to form, nothing is out of the realm of possibility I guess.

  • Nella

LOL. True, the Verizon vs. AT&T decision is a very important one.

  • Max

Exactly what I was thinking, like WTF?!? hahah

  • Max

    Live streams, download torrents,….

  • Max

    Or he might be foreign..

  • shockexchange

Why does the Shock Exchange think D-Rose’s return with be similar to that of “Keith” from Good Times? The Shock Exchange has a feeling in the pit of his stomach that Rose’s return will be underwhelming.

  • fruizm

    hahahaha!

  • K_HOLIDAY

    Now thats funny!

  • Comment_System

    Nice try, T-Mobile salesman.

  • pposse

this comment deserves a thumbs down

  • bringbackthesonics

D-Rose has been cutting?! being injured cant be that bad…

  • shockexchange

Actually, Keith did recover. It just took longer than expected.

  • pposse

never kept up with good times, but aight thats acceptable, in that case, i can see something similar happening for d rose. A full recovery in two years… but I can also see him pulling off a 360 dunk and calling out in his fifth game back and then proclaiming his intention to be in the slam dunk contest, and calling out lebron for an epic duel. Lebron will then refer to your manual and realize there is nothing in there about slam dunk challenges (please update the Lebron rules)..

    Bahahaha

  • pposse

speaking of AP, he is in the midst of his best season!

  • Redd

I agree with you, but if at this point he’s close to playing form, I think it’d be worst to not let him play.

  • Redd

There’s a lot of websites that can stream games, just do some research.

  • Redd

    Forget you Bruce Wayne!

  • Anthony Dixon

this is great…. but he should still come back next season at full strength

    what…no adidas video?

  • http://www.facebook.com/jay.brodes Jay Brodes

good luck drose. i hope he does not come back too soon. just because ap did it does not mean rose should do it! i hope he is healthy and comes back strong.would be shame if he is half the player..dont want to see that!

  • shockexchange

The Shock Exchange wrote “the Rules” down on a set of clay tablets that have since been stolen from him. LeBron has denied any involvement but word on the Streets is the he is now in possession of them.

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

Damn man, derrick ain’t wasting time. Dude has too much heart to ever be a couch potato. Hope he ain’t rushing

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

    Hahaha. That’s wrong

  • Redd

Well I guess my ignorance is showing..sorry everyone.

  • Junior Taylor

I don’t understand why everyone is an a rush to see him back so soon after a serious knee injury. Take all the time in the world you need and come back only when you’re 100%. Not every athlete is built like Adrian Peterson.

  • D.R.1

There is no-one who can play that fast and beautiful and i cant wait for him.

  • Dutch Rich

Maybe he has a Sherpa, courtesy of adidas to keep the soles clean?

  • Redd

They’re saying he’s returning in a few weeks.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

i have them. i read them when i poop.

  • Stevethecannon

Good joke man, it was just a question tho

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    it’s a ridiculous question.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

Is it foolish of me to trust that he won’t be rushed back? I mean it’s no secret that he is the franchise…they wouldn’t dare risk that….would they?

  • LakeShow

If only my a$$ had eyes maybe i’d have an idea of what the rules were all about…

  • ByAnyMeansNecessary

I wouldn’t put him on the floor until he practiced and played 5 on 5 for a good while. Thibs said today that he’s not close to the point where he can practice.

  • ByAnyMeansNecessary

Rose won’t care whether the game was on national TV or not. He feels that he has the city of Chicago on his back. He will put pressure on himself regardless.

  • Redd

Yeah but they’re also saying he’s a few weeks off to practicing with the team.

  • ByAnyMeansNecessary

Thibs said he’s a long ways away today. I believe him more than a report from someone who’s not involved with the organization.
