James Harden Already Recruiting Other Stars to Join Him in Houston

James Harden, unquestionably, is “the man” in Houston. But he has come to the very quick realization that he can’t do it all alone — Harden says that he is actively recruiting other star NBA players to join him on the Rockets. Per KGOW in Houston (via SRI): “Have there been any challenges going from Sixth Man of the Year last year into an every-night starter? ‘It’s a lot different. Coming off the bench with authority and then having a lot more opportunity, having a lot more shots and the ball in my hands a lot more, so it’s something I’m still trying to get used to and adjusted to, but it feels good.’ As a top player now do you recruit players to come play in Houston with you? ‘Of course. I’ve been starting that recruiting process. One player is not going to win a championship. Nowadays you need two or maybe more. I’ve definitely started the recruiting process. We need more guys to come over here, so we can win. For right now we are going to stick with the players we have and try to run with that.’”

its funny how Harden says “nowadays you need two or maybe more (players)” – history repeats itself dummy, never has one guy won a championship by himself. The modern day NBA player’s are the up to date dictionary definition of ‘mental midgetry’

  • evilevo

they should go get gasol could get him cheap if hes not wanted in la send dougles patterson. asik gasol parsons harden lin good sounding line up to me

  • YoungWildNFREE

Yeah….I think its our bench we need to upgrade a bit but if we get gasol man….Lin/Harden/Parson/Gasol/Asik…Gonna be hard to beat

  • Redd

    I will always hate Houston.

Any ideas of who might go to Houston? They could really use a great 3

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

    why?…Asik?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

Completely agree…I can’t stand it when people talk about the “modern” league and how its run by super stars….um am I missing something….the league has been like that for decades…the Celtics and Lakers dominated the 70′s and 80′s…the Bulls the 90′s…if anything the league is more wide open than it used to be

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

are you out of your mind??? you think Pau Gasol is worth Tony Douglas and Patrick Patterson………………

  • Jimmy

Josh Smith could make them a contender.

  • Datkid

Josh Smith? Rudy Gay? Paul George perhaps?

  • Redd

    You know too well..lol.

  • theDankerNuggets

Definitely not Gay with the year he and the Grizzlies are having

  • Caboose

There is no way for the Rockets to match up to Gasols contract.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

I feel like the only big free agent willing to leave his team would be Josh Smith

  • mhm

    Finally someone agrees with me.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

you need another big-time scorer…no matter how well the young Rockets develop they will never be elite as currently constructed. Doesn’t even have to be big-time…they need a great 3 like Nicolas Batum or Luol Deng….that’s the missing piece…along with an improved bench

  • YoungWildNFREE

    Yea

  • Seth

I think they would be better with Parsons/Gasol than they would with Batum/Patterson or Deng/Patterson. They don’t NEED a 3. They could just use more scoring – a better player basically.

  • Seth

There’s no way LA gives up Gasol for cheap. They held on to Bynum for dear life because they wanted a superstar in return (which they eventually got in Howard).

  • Jimbo

Chandler Parsons is easily one of the most underrated players in the league

  • Fat Lever

If Lebron is South Beach, this is South Reach.

  • roscoe

so… according to the nba rules isn’t recruiting contracted players a violation?

i guess its okay for players to do but not organizations… idk about this?

    3 for 18

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

Chandler Parsons is a good role player. That is it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

I guess I agree with that

  • Ugh

…for a second round playoff exit.

  • Handsome Johnson

Paul Milsap would fit and be fairly reasonable in the price and Lin has to go I’m done with being a fan pleaser I want winners damn selling tickets because you want to be popular with Asian population. Another scorer to would help and post presents as well

  • R0nLawson

Chandler is much more than a role player. If you want to get specific all players are roll players.

  • Ron Lawson

Paul Gasol might help.and could be had for not much.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

haha well true good point i guess….all I meant was he is not elite. He is good no doubt. But he will presumably never be elite. Maybe then the best thing would be to upgrade the point or PF. Parsons could def start on an elite team.

  • Keeping it Real

Are you kidding me. Houston is disgusting. You can put a dress on a pig and it will still be a PIG! Houston is known as the armpit of the country. Horrible place to live. No Stars are following you James!

  • http://www.facebook.com/khanhdommm Khanh Nguyen

    94 Houston Rockets

  • http://www.facebook.com/khanhdommm Khanh Nguyen

    explain how Houston is disgusting?

  • YoungWildNFREE

Probably Brandon Jenning, CP3, JOSH SMITH i have a good feeling its JOSH SMITH to be realistic…

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

    damn harden

  • Dr Crane

The rest of the Houston roster must be delighted with the Beard’s comments about how “useless” they are.

  • Cal

I’m putting this out there, Dwight Howard, doesn’t resign with LA, goes to Houston, possibly taking Josh Smith/Chris Paul with him, with Asik and Lin leaving Houston.

  • A-V

    SG – Harden

    PG – Lin

    SF – Rudy Gay

    PF – Kenneth Faried

    C – Marc Gasol

    & there u have it!! 3, 2, 1, )>>>>]>>>>>

  • Spencer

Nobody is going to play for the Houston Rockets…super-stars like to play for teams with history, so they can be compared to some of the other all-time greats who played for that organization. Harden is not a super-star, and Lin is a one-hit wonder who already had his 15 minutes of fame. Steve Francis and T-Mac are the closest thing to super-stars the Rockets will ever have.

  • Jono

Your right. Hakeem Olajuwon wasn’t very good. Its not like he ever won championships or an mvp or DPOY or anything like that

  • RondU33

Haha. I’ll counter with….Dwight Howard doesn’t resign with LA, goes to Philly and the Sixers let Bynum walk as a free-agent.

  • Towelie

“One player is not going to win a championship.”

Should’ve just stayed with the Thunders then…but then again he wouldn’t be averinging 25.

  • Towelie

Paul Millsap would work well .

  • joe Vic

You have lost your damn mind……when keeping it real goes totally wrong

  • tim

there are five rookie power forwards…which one should take offense

  • tim

Millsap and a deeper bench makes you a 50 win team

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=74800936 Patrick Regan Harry

Moses Malone sucked as well. Clyde Drexler was a scrub. Calvin Murphy, Elvin Hayes, Rudy T, Rick Barry, none of these players ever accomplished anything

  • Matt

    hahahaha. Very well handled.

  • TitansNation

The armpit of the world has been known to be New Orleans Houston is one of the top rated cities in all of the US. Our sports have been lacking. now with the Texans playing well( mind you I hate the Texans) and now the Rockets. Please do your homework the next time you hit send.

  • Redd

You guys are a joke (send).

    Danny Granger

  • Gangstalicious

In the 90s there were plenty of teams that could have won chips if not for the bulls. In today’s league if you take out the heat, only a few teams have legitimate shots and almost all are in the west.
The Knicks, pacers, suns, sonic, Houston, ect all could have won and the road to victory for the bulls was harder than the heats.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

I agree with you, to an extent. do think though that the league is becoming stronger again, at least stronger than it has been in the last 5 years or so

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

    ………….

  • theDankerNuggets

haha really man? Ok I obviously was wrong, but to be fair I did say, “with the year he and the Grizzlies are having.” and at that point they were like first or second in the western conference and he was playing a lot better than he was leading up to the trade deadline.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

lol I know i know, I just thought it was funny looking back
