Kobe Bryant Leads LeBron James in NBA All-Star Votes

In the second return for NBA All-Star votes, Kobe Bryant has overtaken LeBron James for the overall lead: “Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers, who this season topped the 30,000-point plateau, is the leading overall vote-getter (977,444), followed closely by the Miami Heat’s LeBron James with 970,314 votes, after the second returns of the 2013 NBA All-Star Balloting presenting by Sprint. Bryant is followed in the Western Conference by the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant (924,898), while the New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony (891,759) sits behind James in the East. [...] James, Anthony and the Boston Celtics’ Kevin Garnett (328,716) pace the Eastern Conference’s frontcourt players. The Heat’s Dwyane Wade leads all Eastern Conference backcourt players with 645,875 votes, followed by the Celtics’ Rajon Rondo (574,272). Following the second returns Bryant is joined in the backcourt by intra-city rival Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers with 542,564 votes. Durant, the NBA’s leading scorer the past three seasons, leads all frontcourt players in the West, followed by the Lakers’ Dwight Howard (616,150) and the Clippers’ Blake Griffin (489,795).”

I don’t know how it can be done but it would be great if the guys who actually deserve to start in this game would get selected. The way the bench is selected is great. The coaches do a good job. But Anderson Varejao deserves to be one of the top 2 frontcourt players in the East at this point.

They need to allow people to vote from candidates that are at the top of their position. That’s the only way and it’s a pretty easy means to do so also.

    WHEN YOUR A LEGEND…YOU GET MAD VOTES…
    -
    FOR EXAMPLE:
A.I WAS AN ALL-STAR STARTER ALMOST EVERY YEAR OR HIS CAREER

  • James

This game is ridiculous in the first place, I would never pay those high prices to watch Anderson Varejao, this is just a stand out year he doesn’t deserve to be mentioned as a all star

  • James

And how would you decide who is at the top of their position PER, EFF, or Wins combined with productivity? I’m just saying it’d be a mess

  • Redd

Not really, quite frankly it’s simple. If you’re leading in stats you should be a candidate.

More than likely out of those candidates that are statistically justified to get in the All-Star game, the ones who are winning will be most popular.

He’s playing like the 2nd or 3rd best frontcourt player in the league. Whether you would pay to see him in the game means nothing. He deserves to be there at this point. If he continues to play this way, he will deserve to be in the game. If Brad Miller can get in the game twice, Antawn Jamison twice, and Mo Williams once, Varejao can get one shot this season.

I will be so pissed if deron williams makes the team

I would take Noah over Varejao if it came down to it…you gotta factor in your team’s record a little bit…

antwan jamison was a very good player in his prime

  • Max

It’s a shame that there will probably will only be one Memphis player in the game.

  • elconquiZtador

as long as the bestest will play that will give us a great all star game.

  • Howhedodat

Looks like Josh Smith will be snubbed again.

Love the game, hate the voting process. When Yao Ming was still receiving votes the last few yrs of his career, u know the system is flawed.

  • roscoe

too bad we can’t cast votes to keep him off the team.

  • T-man

The fact that Dirk was in this year’s ballot says a lot. They need to fix it the same way they need to fix the dunk contest.

  • K_HOLIDAY

Why? He’s a point and assist off of his career average this year. Even tho the Nets are a mess they are still in the playoff race (for now). He still deserves consideration. If the Nets didn’t slide the last 14 games everyone would still be voting for him

  • pops

If he is snubbed Horford better make it. One of those two has to. The Hawks are exceeding expectations.

um are u serious? take a look at his shooting percentages…..atrocious….and he is beyond underachieving….and there are other guards in the east that deserve it more

  • bringbackthesonics
