Kobe Bryant Wants Pau Gasol to Get More Touches in the Post

Under Mike Brown and Mike D’Antoni, Pau Gasol has drifted further and further away from the hoop, frustrating him and Lakers fans along the way. Gasol is battling injury and facing trade rumors, but according to teammate Kobe Bryant, the team needs to re-establish Pau in the post where he is most effective and dominant. Per ESPN: “Amid rising pressure and growing trade speculation smothering the ailing Pau Gasol, Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant offered his strongest public support to date to back the Spaniard with whom he has won two NBA championships. ‘I love Pau like a brother,’ Bryant said. ‘I really do. I want him to dominate like I know he can. I want him to dig in and be determined, not discouraged,’ Bryant continued. ‘We should go to him more on the post because he can dominate from there as he has to the tune of two rings. I’m sure we will adjust and figure out a balance when he comes back healthy.’ [...] Bryant and Gasol had a lengthy summit Monday night at the team hotel in Houston. ‘I know his knees have been hurting and that can be frustrating because you can’t do physically what you are used to,’ Bryant said. ‘I just don’t want him to sulk about the change of things.’ Gasol is averaging 12.6 points and shooting 42 percent from the floor, both career lows, in new Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni’s offense. Both he and D’Antoni have acknowledged that his role is and will be quite different than what it has historically been for the Lakers.”

This story is a day old btw. I know D’Antoni’s offense is PnRs, but I, like Kobe, wish Gasol got more post touches. Before every one piles on Kobe for not passing it to him, keep in mind that a) Gasol doesn’t often fight for post position and b) it runs through Dwight before it runs through Pau. Essentially, this leaves Pau as a guy who sets picks, shoots mid-range jumpers, and passes to other people. Horribly under utilized.

  • shockexchange

This is the equivalent of John Dillinger “wishing banks added more security.”

  • spit hot fiyah

tell him to get down there and then PASS HIM THE BALL. problem solved

  • pposse

haha WTF?? Just the other day Kobe was demanding Pau to change up his game to pnr and now he reneges and wants Pau more in the post? Well, no sh** Pau needs to be more in the post! Kobe is talkin waaay too much, he don’t even make sense anymore.

  • uqk

i still remember how supportive kobe is to mike brown…and then the comes the death stare..

  • RunNGun

Kobe this… Kobe that… so who really is coaching this mess of a team… Kobe or the Pringles Man?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=509819249 Gaurav P.

I think he’s just as confused as the rest of us. This team honestly should be dominating, but they are playing under an offensive style that doesn’t really suit them, and takes Gasol and Dwight out of the picture most nights.

  • https://twitter.com/Wayne__o BuenoWayno1

Pau Gasol has TRADEinitis in his knees. He’s at the crib packing bags….there gonna miss em when he’s gone.

  • Coack J

Lets see…. change Gasols program? Make it different from the plan that got him the Championship rings? Have him do something else? .Stuuuuuuupid!……….While hes not my favorite player, I dont think his passing and shots from short distance can be matched by many. Certainly dont want to see him playing against us…………..common sense needs to prevail and this time Kobe is right.

  • Coack J

Theres a reason why this Coach has no rings. He plays his tunnel vision type of ball instead of using what hes got. I dont think he can see the big picture.

  • Coach J

    name spell check …..lol

  • RedRum

boy oh boy… Kobster is becoming more erratic by every loss…he changes his mind and blame constantly. First the Princenton is great, then its rubbish, Brown is great, then rubbish, then Pau needs to adjust to the system, then the system needs to change for Pau… I personally expect a huge explosion soon… kobe will go nuclear on their arses.. I personally don’t understand what Brown and Pringles are thinking… You have the best back to the basket player in the game, who shoots close to 60% for career, giving you 19+ points. Why the hell you want to neutralise by making them a shooter?? system schmystem… if you have a player who can give you 20+ points with 50+% efficiency, you do just that… I can’t get my head around how rigid (I will not use another word…) coaches can get with their systems… you got to win games, whatever works, works. I just don’t get it…

The perception of Pau Gasol is humorous. Hes not the same guy he was 3-4 years ago. Please just watch how he moves and jumps last year and this year compared to the past. Look at every rosters PF and think is Pau right now really better then half? Not at all. Dont make me list em.. coming from a die-hard Lakeshow fan

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

    Tim Duncan
    Ibaka
    the Manamal
    Paul Milsap
    Lamarcus Aldridge
    David lee
    Scola
    Zach Randolph
    Dirk
    Blake Griffin
    Bosh
    Andre bargani
    Kevin Garnett
    Humphries (lol)
    Melo
    Young
    Ryan Anderson

This is off the top of my head and i highly doubt Pau can out play these guys night in night out even if he was the number-1 option. Mix that in with him not fitting Pringles system he has to go. Plain and simple

  • Caboose

Then you should know about that little thing called tendinitis.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

Same thing Micheal Jordan and Mamba had most of their careers. Yeah i do

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

if only his $38M were so easily tradeable. It’s safer to assume, considering the guy literally hasn’t had a break in 3+ years, that he has tendinitis in his knees and needs rest. Just like is being reported.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Pau is still a top 5 PF when he’s healthy. Right now, he isn’t healthy.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

I watched him all last year and i didnt see anything close to even top-10 PF. This if you take away reputation and base his ranking on skill, production, and intangibles

  • Caboose

Well since you’re clearly an accredited and certified medical field employee, can you confirm that every tendinitis, regardless of where it is or the severity of it is the exact same? I just want to be sure.

  • Caboose

It’s hard to constantly avoid blame on himself. He needs lots of excuses.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

Well sir who is clearly an undercover comedian who names himself after thick black women’s rump, I know that tendinitis doesn’t just pop up out of nowhere. Pau has playing with it for quite a while. So i don’t think its Extreme Gut-Wrenching tendinitis. So it’s an syptom that many NBA players have and still continue to be great. I.E Jordan, Mamba

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    You watched last season?

    .

He put up 17PPG, 10RPG, 3APG, had a PER of 20.5 (which puts him 6th among Power Forwards), and an offensive rating of 112, despite Mike Brown putting him in the most ridiculous possible role you could possibly put him in, in any offense.

    .

I mean, Gasol wasn’t the Gasol he was in previous seasons, but he was also in a much less comfortable offense. And he was still better than just about every 4 in the league, except 4. (Kevin Love, Lamarcus Aldridge, Blake Griffin, & Dirk – barely).

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

and it’s clear you didn’t actually pay attention to – skill, production, or intangibles.

    .

For fact’s sake, the Lakers were 8 points better per 100 possessions with Gasol on the court (intangibles, made tangible).

    .

8 points in 100 possessions, was the difference between the Thunder and the Pistons last season.

    .
In other words, Pau Gasol’s affect on the Lakers was profound. And definitely top 10 among PF’s. I mean, it’s not even arguable unless you want to be blatantly wrong.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

you know jack sh*t about tendinitis. or anything that you have commented on. that is obvious.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

i’ve had chronic tendinitis in my left rotator cuff since i was 17. it doesn’t ever improve, only gets worse, and eventually goes back to being in constant pain.
    .
in my left knee, left ankle, right knee, & left elbow i have acute tendinitis that is only inflamed when i overuse.
    .
i wish people understood the difference between the two basic types of tendinitis. it would really cut down on the ignorance.
    .
sorry, this subject really strikes a chord with me, had to say this somewhere.

  • Caboose

No, just a student in health care who works in a hospital. Let’s try to work this out shall we? Pau has had tendinitis. He’s been playing with it for a while. But it doesn’t make him sit out. Now it has made him stop playing. Think it might have gotten a little worse? The fact about MJ and Kobe is irrelevant; that implies that all tendinitis injuries are the same.

  • Caboose

Stop, I’m trying to convince him that tendinitis has different levels of severity, a concept he simply can’t grasp. Don’t argue with morons, nbk.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

actually, Jordan’s tendinitis was a HUGE issue when he came back to Washington. but let’s ignore that.

  • Caboose

I know man, I’m a health care student. I had acute tendinitis in both knees, and it only flares up with overuse. It’s just funny how people hear one word and they think it means everything is the same. Cancer, yeah, sarcoma and melanoma, those are the same right?

  • https://twitter.com/Wayne__o BuenoWayno1

Pau definitely need the rest but he’s been the scapegoat for Lakers losses for so long i wouldn’t be surprised if he gets sent packing.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

i mean what this Koombuy guy is arguing is so incredibly stupid. this is like saying all basketball players are the same. literally.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

i wouldn’t either. But that’s not why he isn’t playing right now. Tendinitis is the issue. No doubt about it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

Im not Dr. House but i have league pass and I know that Pau LAST YEAR was not a top PF(tendinitis or not) and now that the Pringles system is in place and not going anywhere, Pau needs to go somewhere. That is a fact

  • Caboose

Agreed. And how well did he play? That kind of proves my point doesn’t it?

  • Caboose

Well, every advanced stat says Pau was pretty good last year. I guess it’s you against facts isn’t it?

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

These are nice STATS but did you watch the Lakers play. Did you notice that Pau faced 0 double teams last year. He played with every teams focus on stopping Mamba and Bynum. If you look at the list of players i so easily posted for you every single one of them would average 17 and 10 playing as the third option last year.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

i just showed you all of Pau’s stats from last year. Don’t ignore the facts infront of your face that you tried to ignore even tho you said, QUOTE “This if you take away reputation and base his ranking on skill, production, and intangibles” –
    .
you are ignorant on this subject. that is the fact here.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    it completely proves your point.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

“This if you take away reputation and base his ranking on skill, production, and intangibles”
    .
I mean, if you want to ignore your own point, sure.
    .
Please stop. Your argument is beyond stupid. You are really going to try and argue that Pau underperformed putting up 17, 10, and 3 as the third option. Of all the stupid ass points a person has made in an argument. This one? This is one of the best evar.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

Is this Slam or Time? If you two are tendinitis junkies can you please give me your estimate on how many % of players have tendinitis, Then with a follow up answer of how many have missed games due to it. It will prove not only how soft Gasol is but how he’s now had his pride broken down by being benched and not fitting in the Pringles system.

  • Caboose

You still think all tendinitis is the same, don’t you? You sir, are an ignorant asshat and I am done arguing with you.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

we both like facts. and dislike ignorance.
    .
    say something logical. not ignorant.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

No Im not saying it’s the same, I’m saying that even if Pau has a severe form it cant be more severe then EVERY NBA player in the league considering none have missed time due to it in recent knowledge

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

When did i say he underperformed? What I’m saying is he put up the same numbers MOST PF would in the same situation.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

    Situations make a huge deal.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

which is complete and utter bullsh*t. but cool for your opinion.

    .

most PF’s who are their teams first or second option, don’t put up 17, 10, and 3. it’s utterly stupid to expect “most” to do that as the third option, especially with Kobe Bryant as their teammate. like bafflingly dumb.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

oh thank you for that, you need a fortune cookie to tell you that to come up with such a genius theory?

  • speedy

And as a lakeshow fan you do know that pau had to play last year at the high post were he isn’t quite that deadly as if playing the low post.
People seem to forget to easily.
It’s like redrum said two hours earlier.
Use the strength of your players!!!! That is what a great coach is all about.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

My point here is that sure, pau put up 17 10 3, but did he lock down the paint in the 4th quarter, did he rally his teamates, did he guard the other teams best post player? He did what any other top-15 PF would do minus the intangibles mentioned above.

  • LaLa

That’s because mike Browns dumbass wanted to run the offense more through Bynum. Even Phil jackson said this was why the Lakers struggled.

  • LakeShow

It’s also kind of hard to take blame when it’s not your fault…

  • Caboose

Derrick Rose, Luol Deng, Elton Brand, Ron Artest, Dwyane Wade, Alonzo Mourning, Damon Stoudemire, and Joel Pryzbilla all have missed significant time from tendinitis. That’s a pretty tough group of players there.

  • Caboose

    Never is, right?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Bynum guarded the other teams best post player. Bryant is the leader of the team. It’s his job to rally teammates.
    .
So what you are saying is, you are criticizing Gasol for playing within the confines of his role on his own team? That makes sense.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

you don’t have recent knowledge. You have a head full of ignorant ideas that are not backed up by any sort of evidence.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

“despite Mike Brown putting him in the most ridiculous possible role you could possibly put him in, in any offense.”

    .
did you even read the comment you replied too?

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

Considering the shooters the Lakers had (or lacked of) i think him getting double teamed in the post like Bynum, isnt more deadly then him sitting at the foul line shooting wide open set shots and rolling to the hoop.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

My primary theory was that you wasted you time with writing QUOTE

“For fact’s sake, the Lakers were 8 points better per 100 possessions with Gasol on the court (intangibles, made tangible).

    .

8 points in 100 possessions, was the difference between the Thunder and the Pistons last season. ”

Because Josh Mcroberts and Jordan Hill were in the game when Pau wasn’t but i instead chose my constant theory which is Pau did what most would with less heart.

  • skywalker

Nursing students always think they know everything. Not that your wrong in this case, but you definitely have that know it all thing going on

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=509819249 Gaurav P.

Just….stop. Its not worth it. His arguments have absolutely no merit.

  • Caboose

Public Health, UC Berkeley. Not nursing. It’s an argumentative technique done to establish legitimacy. I am well informed about this subject matter.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

Metta averages 13 and 5 being the FOURTH option this year. Thats only 4 less points being the 4th option… not the third. I dont think you should be that baffled

  • Caboose

It’s the only way he’ll learn!

  • LakeShow

    Another straw-man.
    Your good at those.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

Dang and none of those players have missed time over the past two seasons. Pau must have the worst tendinitis in the league for 2 seasons!

  • Caboose

My point is more like this: Kobe has lost many games. He has definitely been the result of the loss in some. The amount of times he has accepted blame for the loss is less than the amount of times the loss has been his fault. By a substantial margin.

  • Caboose

Wait a minute, you think that Pau couldn’t outplay Ryan Anderson or Andrea Bargnani if he was on the Hornets or Raptors respectively?

  • Caboose

    Sigh.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

So Gasol cant rally teammates even though he’s a two time champion. That shows a lot about someones character as a player. Im saying if Gasol had inside him what someone like a KG has, Gasol would not be in trade discussions.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Metta is shooting 10 shots a game and hitting 2 threes, it’s not baffling why he’s scoring 13. it makes perfect sense.. just like it makes perfect sense that Gasol put up very good stats for the opportunities and position he was put in last season.

    .

i mean, please, stop just looking at the bare bones of things and making an argument. This is like seeing the horizon and saying the world is flat. Ofcourse you can make a point just being being vague and uninformed. i want to have an intelligent discussion where you make relevant points that i respond to. not reading something and then having to explain over and over again that you are just taking shots in the dark with no logical train of thought.

    .

And 13 points and 5 rebounds from a Small Forward is so completely different then 17 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists, that you even suggesting this is comparable is stupid from the jump.

    .

i mean could you imagine if i really went in on this argument and used advanced stats and other more advanced ways of looking at the game. just the argument you are already giving is so rudimentary if i approached this how i normally would you would probably just ignore it as too complicated and thus pointless or whatever people do when they don’t have the capacity for understanding. — just take this for what it is, EVERYONE within the league knows he is still an elite 4 when healthy, only Lakers fans who are running out of things to blame for their struggles are saying this about Gasol. Nobody whose opinion is deemed intelligent is saying the things you are saying. But maybe you can get Magic Johnson to agree, while he blames the D’Antoni hiring on the wrong Buss and proclaims LeBron will never win a title. Because he’s the guy who seems to be behind all of these outrageously stupid Lakers driven diatribes by panicking fans.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

that isn’t true. and he isn’t in trade discussions more than anyone else on the team aside from Bryant and Howard. — the only reason these discussions even exist is because they are the Lakers, and Lakers fans have to have someone to blame when they struggle. Not because there is actual merit to all of this nonsense. — the guy is unhealthy. the teams coach has been around for almost 3 weeks. there is no reason to expect anyone to thrive. if you are a logical human being.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

The Pau Gasol of the last two years is in these players class not a class above like he was before

  • Caboose

Oh, I apologize for arguing with you before. I didn’t realize you were 11. Now I feel bad for making you look stupid.

  • Caboose

Give it up. He thinks Pau=Ryan Anderson=Bargnani.

  • http://twitter.com/DPisWill DePaul Williams

Kobe dont write checks or call plays, but he the one makes wishes and demands lol

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

man, you know exactly how hard it is for me to ignore stupidity.

  • Caboose

Haha we both have the same problem.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

If only we weren’t aware that the human brain can eventually understand concepts even if there seems to be no supporting evidence we probably would just accept it

  • LakeShow

    Fair.
In comparison though – the amount of times his critics admit that the Lakers would have been in a trench without him – is about how often he admits fault.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

You attacking my argument with insulting my brain power is childlike but your big words will let you get away with it.

Pau Gasol is still soft, mentally more than psychically, he doesnt fit in the Pringles system, he got blocked by Big Baby, and he has the worst tendinitis in NBA history. This does not make him a legit option to be an elite PF for the Lakers going forward.

He has the same Eff Rating as Ryan Anderson

Im a die-hard Laker fan. Yes. But Pau has lacked in a lot of things you can’t put on a stat sheet. I say his tougness is the only reason Doc Rivers has a ring. but that’s a story for another day. Pau has turned into the modern day Arvydas Sabonis

  • Caboose

This explains all of Europe from about 800-1600 CE.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

Im 21 and I’m not looking as stupid as you might think. You act as if my opinion is unheard of.

  • Caboose

Fair. However, we critics are dudes on a basketball site. Kobe’s lack of accepting blame has consequences. My b*tching does not.

  • Caboose

Really? You think you look smart saying that Andrea Bargnani is as good as Pau Gasol? You think you don’t look stupid saying that tendinitis shouldn’t affect Pau as much as it should? You think you look smart asserting that because Ryan Anderson and Pau have a similar EFF rating that they’re equal? You think you look smart by saying that Thaddeus Young could average 17 and 10 on the Lakers when the best he’s ever done since this year is 13-5? The same numbers that Metta put up last year? You think you don’t look dumb by saying that Pau works better as a spot up shooter than a low post player? Newsflash. You look stupid. Hell, I’ll bet even LakeShow agrees with me on this one.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    Lol!

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

Thaddeus Young, Ryan Anderson, Andrea Bargnani. All players that will improve as this year goes on and into next year. Pau gasol has been getting worse every year and has never been the same player since Shannon Brown f**ked his wife. This love affair with Pau has to stop. I’ve seen more Laker games then anybody should and he is overated to your standards.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

It’s not your brain power. If I didn’t think you had the capacity to understand I would just ignore you. It’s your level of understanding that I have an issue with.

  • keyon dooling

anyone else sick of this delusional ‘LakeShow’ nerd who keeps commenting on EVERY f–king Lakers/Kobe story? Lol

  • pposse

They really should be dominating, I agree %100. Miami struggled in its first year, but they never had a big man who could defend which is where most of their problems came from..that and indecision from Lebron and Wade down the stretch. This Lakers team is built in a completely different way, their starting 5 has no weakness. Its hard to blame Nash for not being on the court for the struggles when your team consists of Kobe, Pau, Metta, and Howard (injured or not he still is putting up like 20 and 15 on some nights). I’m sticking to my guns, the Lakers should have implemented the triangle, idk how complicated it is, Dwight needs to understand that he would be a better basketball player in general if he develops real low post moves. His pick n roll abilities are nice but more flashy than substance.

  • Caboose

I’m done. Think what you want. Just another ignorant Kobe humper to add to the pile.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=509819249 Gaurav P.

No, it is deadly. Pau was infinitely better finding cutters and shooters while working from the post than Bynum was. He’s a better post-passer than he is a mid range jump shooter.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=509819249 Gaurav P.

Chi city is more than willing to trade boozer for Pau

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

lol, ok granted. so is NYK with Amar’e. But let’s try and think of something LA would do also lol

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

Im not surprised Wade has tendinitis.

I have a lot of basketball knowledge that you fail to realize but its understandable i guess. Everybody can be hard headed but Im going to prove my very arguable point one last time.

Talent and stats are important. I say they are each a third of how you determine what a player is. The last third? Intangibles. Let me break this down for you with my basketball knowledge,

    Larry Bird
    Lebron James

    Larrys talent < Lebron
    Larrys stats Lebron

Thus making Larry Bird still debatable as a basketball player to Lebron.
    Use this same theory for

    Vince Carter
    Kobe Bryant

    Rasheed Wallace
    Tim Duncan

Pau has lacked that extra boost in his chest that has been hidden by Mamba and Bynum since he has been in LA. Basically he is 2 thirds of the player he can be. Now that his production in the areas where he excelled in hasnt been there for two years, he is not good enough to change an offense for. Let alone not trade, for a player that can bring to a team what Pau can’t because the points and the passing and the low post scoring can be made up for with the talent LA has. They need what he can’t give them, which is heart.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

that’s not true. i know i have at one time or another admitted the Lakers wouldn’t win jack sh*t without Kobe. So I’m atleast up on him 1-0

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

    Do your homework

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

“Pau has lacked that extra boost in his chest that has been hidden by Mamba and Bynum since he has been in LA.”

    .

    You are completely ignorant.

    .

    Completely.
    (2008 Finals)

    .

Look at Every Game the Lakers WON.

    .

Consistently, the best player on the team was Pau. Lucky for Kobe, the Finals MVP voters care about the games you lose too.

    .

How many Playoff Rounds has Kobe Bryant won without Shaq or Pau Gasol?

    .

Andrew f*cking Bynum was better than Pau for one season, which was last season. And he was really really really really good. While Gasol was only really really good.

    .
Your point is wrong. Blatantly wrong.
    .
And you naming names without any sort of reasoning or argument at all is not an expression of basketball knowledge. It’s an expression of remembering basketball player’s names, some of which under achieved, some over achieved. — None of them relate to Pau Gasol in any way.
    .
    But thanks.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

You believed that? haha that says a lot.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

“Consistently, the best player on the team was Pau. Lucky for Kobe, the Finals MVP voters care about the games you lose too.”

I don’t know if I can argue that because Pau played out of his mind in those championship runs. I was a huge Pau Gasol believer.

But then I seen Pau against the Mavs when the Lakers were swept. Or against the Thunder last season. Or even that series against Chris Paul and the Hornets.

I was left thinking, Did Pau even play. He has the talent so what’s the reason behind not dominating like he did in the finals in every series??

Thats where my argument comes in.

    Toughness, heart, determination.

Why did Dirk win in 2011 when he was a better athlete in 2006?

    Toughness, heart, determination.

You can ignore this but your argument is biased without understanding what Pau lacks.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

Did you see Pau play in those playoffs. It explains a lot

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Ths all goes back to square one, Mike Brown used Pau like he was Dirk. Which, especially in the playoffs, put him in an extremely uncomfortable position. Now he’s hurt. .
In terms of the series against Dallas, Pau was mentally gone from that series dealing with his personal stuff. None of that applies to how good he actually is

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Yes in a sense it does, but Shannon Brown was not what was really behind it dude. That’s just a story the media used to garner attention to their story. Which obviously worked.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

    Mentally gone?

Let me put you up on game to something. If a player can be mentally gone and get away with it he wasnt strong mentally to begin with.
Dwayne Wade didnt know where his kids were before a NBA finals game and still balled out. I think he was probably mentally gone. Notice how Wade and Soft never get brought up with eachother. I cant think of another 2-time champion that would let another man even the Great Mamba himself tell him to put his big boy pants on without some kind of masculine comeback. This explains Pau’s career as a laker

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

You are naive as f*ck if you think everyone should handle personal situations the same. It that the degree in which all personal things accrue are the same. I’m done, this stuff will make more sense once you have more life experience. I used to say the same type of stuff you are saying here. When I was about your age.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

    To make it simple.

Reggie Evans and Dennis Rodman have made a career doing what Pau is incapable of

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

That is also dumb. You could say vice versa to that. Neither prove anything.

  • bigA

You should have watched the Olympics to see what Gasol can really do when he gets the touches, is motivated and healthy.
He is a beast! Too long too good.

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

    I have plenty life experience.

Fighting through adversity is what humans do in basketball or life. The people who succeed are strong mentally and the people who don’t are Pau

Im not saying Pau should’ve threw Mamba under the bus but a casual joke or affirmative remark would’ve at least shown he’s capable of wearing those pants. That’s what men do when their manhood is attacked I dont care how old you are.

This debate is a stale-mate because you are only gonna see stats and talent and leave out other factors. I don’t see Pau being a top tier PF and you see otherwise. By next season it will be clear.

  • skywalker

CabooseRN, that’s supposed to be an insult?

  • roscoe

can you please try to use a current criminal for your analogies old-timer?

  • http://www.facebook.com/koombuy.pride Koombuy Pride

I don’t know why i have to say this. Pau is good. Talent wise he is top 10 maybe top 5. Other factors lead to him not being a beast every night,

  • roscoe

besides the fact going surfing is better than entertaining your arguments…

Pau has succeeded and is mentally tough.

He is arguably the most successful European basketball players in the history of our world. He is a team first guy, intelligent, probably one of the best read athletes in the USA, and cares quite a bit about ppl. Lastly, he left his country to at a young age to play a sport in a new country and did fold up his tent and go home like so many other athletes have at young ages.

You should try traveling on your own in different countries, taking a few deep breaths, and thinking just a bit before you punch your keyboard… it would give you a better perspective on Pau Gasol and his success as well as give your true intelligence a chance to show itself.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

You don’t know sh*t about anyone’s life but your own. Pretty simply. .
And the day you realize that, is the first day you know anything.

I don’t honestly think boozer would make LA worse. If I’m not mistaken though he has just as scary a contract. I can’t really think of a whole lot of trades that make sense. Ideally I guess they could go for young cheap talent and hope Jamison is the answer at 4. But, I’m not familiar with how much difference the salaries can be in trades.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Oh boozer’s contract is worse. That’s the main problem. And he’s not a 7-footer, so defensively he is not what they’d need. LA would rather get Taj and other pieces honestly. But Chi wouldn’t do that.

  • shockexchange

Sco Sco As long as you know what the Shock Exchange meant, that’s all that matters.

  • RedRum

Koombuy.. leave the bong down my son… you have start to be sille. David Lee, Anderson and Bargnani outplay Pau??? seriously boy, what else have you put in that bong apart from pot?

  • https://twitter.com/jasontichenor Mr. Wet

holy crap. I actually read all this.

I like Pau, even if I thought his name was Paul for a few years.

  • https://twitter.com/jasontichenor Mr. Wet

I think it would be funny if they sent him to phoenix for Gortat. How pissed would Gortat be? (I completely realize that makes no sense on the court)

Does Houston have the picks/players to make something happen? Would still having scola there been an option (Even if I think he’s a poor man’s gasol) I like hypotheticals.

I’m sorry you had to endure Koombuy Pride.
