Mario Chalmers Reportedly Could Miss 5 Games With Finger Injury

Miami Heat point guard Mario Chalmers tore a tendon in his left ring finger last night in Washington, which could end sidelining him for up to five games. Reports the Sun-Sentinel: “Chalmers tore a tendon and will be out at least seven to 10 days, according to a source. The injury occurred in the first half of the Heat’s 105-101 loss. Chalmers was taken to the locker room, returning for the second half with his finger in a splint. ‘I caught a pass,’ Chalmers said after the game. ‘Somehow my finger got caught in the ball.’ The Heat did not practice Wednesday, but Chalmers said he would be further evaluated by team doctors. [...] The injury could leave the Heat thin at point guard. Norris Cole did not play against the Wizards because of a groin strain. His status is day-to-day. If Cole is unable to suit up versus the New York Knicks Thursday, the Heat will turn to LeBron James and Dwyane Wade as primary ball-handlers.”

Finger. Elbow. Might as well just sit it out until he’s 100. One thing Miami isn’t lacking, is guards. Ray Allen and Mike Miller getting more minutes definitely isn’t going to hurt the team.
