Boston Celtics Fans’ Taunting Signs Were Confiscated

The expected zoo-like atmosphere in Boston last night didn’t quite materialize, thanks in part to Boston Celtics officials removing crude, fan-made signs that were designed to taunt Carmelo Anthony. The crowd seemed relatively tame during the Knicks/Celtics battle, and New York walked away with a tough victory. Per the NY Daily News: “Last time the New York Knicks played the Boston Celtics, Kevin Garnett reportedly taunted Carmelo Anthony with the words ‘Your wife tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios,’ enraging Anthony to the point that he waited near the Celtics team bus after the game until he was ushered away by MSG security and the NYPD. [...] Before Thursday night’s Knicks-Celtics game – which New York won 89-86 – security at TD Garden confiscated multiple Cheerios boxes from fans seemingly planning to rib Anthony. Before the game, Melo and Garnett shared a brief fist bump. Both have maintained the incident is behind them. The notoriously tough Boston crowd did seem to sneak some Cheerios-related items in past security. The Garden faithful didn’t give Anthony nearly as hard a time as they once did to another Knicks player – Jason Kidd. It was in 2002 when the Boston fans chanted ‘wife beater’ at then-Nets point guard Kidd – who was arrested on spousal abuse charges approximately 18 months prior to the series. Kidd and the then-New Jersey Nets won the series and made the NBA Finals.”

lol click the link, one fan made it in with a box he smuggled. i don’t want to know where he hid it.

Knicks won the game. Melo wins (even though he shot a horrible percentage from the field). Like Steve Kerr said last night, no one has stepped forward to say that they started that rumor about what KG said. Neither team confirmed that KG said anything about Melo’s wife. Glad they talked about it after it happened (whatever was said) and it’s squashed.

    thats horrible

That’s wack that they didn’t let the fans be fans. As long as there was nothing vulgar or especially offensive I see nothing wrong with fans ribbing players, and I’m a Knick fan.
