Carmelo Anthony Thinks It’s Funny the New York Knicks are Spying on Him

The New York Knicks embarrassed themselves once again late last week, by recording the conversations that go on during games between Carmelo Anthony and foul-mouthed opponents. Sources claim that this was done to protect Melo, and the NBA sees no problem with the silly practice. As for Anthony, he says that he had no idea team owner James Dolan had ordered the tactic (which he finds amusing.) Per ESPN and the NY Post: “Tim Frank, the NBA’s senior vice president of basketball communications, said the league has no issue with the recordings. ‘There are no prohibitions against having audio equipment in the arena,’ Frank said. The Knicks declined to comment on the incident. [...] The Knicks superstar said he was unaware he was being miked up for Friday’s Bulls game and Sunday’s game vs. the Hornets on orders from owner James Dolan, and he doesn’t care. As Anthony arrived with his wife, La La, to the team hotel in London Tuesday morning, he laughed it off. Anthony said he had no idea Dolan had set up two audio technicians on opposite sides of the court to record his on-court dialogue with other players [...] ‘I don’t care about the microphones,’ Anthony said. ‘I wasn’t aware of it. I found out on the plane [ride] … I don’t think the mikes are going to stop what goes out on the court,’ Anthony said. ‘But it was funny when I heard it. No, I wasn’t upset. Not at all.’”
