Derrick Rose ‘Very Close’ to Taking Full Contact

According to Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau, superstar guard Derrick Rose is getting oh-so-close to taking part in a full-contact practice, which is the next step in his long road back from major knee surgery. Per the Chicago Tribune and Daily Herald: “In town all week with practices scheduled Tuesday and Thursday, coach Tom Thibodeau said Derrick Rose is ‘very close’ to being cleared for full contact. Thibodeau said ‘it could’ happen this week, another step in Rose’s recovery from last May’s left knee surgery. [...] ‘It’s not going to be one or two days of contact and he’s going to be out there,’ Thibodeau said. ‘That’s not going to happen. He’s showing great patience. Everybody else has to. He has to continue to focus on his rehab. When he’s ready, whenever that is, that’s when he comes back. Our doctors have been on top of it since day one. And Derrick’s done great.’ [...] ‘He has to go through that (full-contact practice) for an extended amount of time,’ Thibodeau said before Monday’s game.”

good to hear, the bulls are going to be deadly come playoff time

didn’t he and shumpert get hurt on the same day? so he should be pretty close to returning.
again the bulls have done a great job keeping the team afloat when he has been out, specilly considering they lost 4 key bench players from last years very good bench (asik, korver, watson and brewer)

damn i was hoping he started the full contact last week, so i could possibly see him play against the wizards at the end of this week! its all good tho, no steps shall be missed. #the return is imminent and the league better take notice, time for the bulls to ascend to the top of the hill.

Yeah but D Rose is a star player..you don’t rush him back in.

Great news. That United Center will be live whenever he’s introduced whether he comes off the bench or is in the starting lineup. Probably off the bench. He supposedly put on more muscle. He’s been dunking. Better outside shot. Pretty scary to think about a stronger, more balanced Derrick Rose. Especially if/when he gets his explosion back fully. He can be only 85% at the end of this season playing with those guys (as long as Boozer continues to play the way he’s been playing) and the Bulls will be tough to beat 4 times for any team including Miami.

More muscle? Coming off of a major knee injury? That sounds kinda iffy. I can’t see the logic in putting more weight on a surgically repaired ACL.

He’s been under the watchful eye of doctors and training staff. I’m sure that if it was a bad idea, he wouldn’t have been able to do it. If he was making any wrong steps in this process, it would have been corrected.

Bulls fans, PLEASE keep trying to convince yourselves that with a 90% Rose you can beat Miami in a 7 game series. Not happening. Boozer is notorious for being a ski mask All-Star and come playoff time will be outplayed handily by Bosh. Remember that in 2011, with a HEALTHY Rose and an extremely capable BENCH, you lost in 5 to Miami (with home court adv, as well). Since then, Rose presumably has taken step(s) back, while LeBron has gotten significantly better (as crazy as it sounds) and the Bulls have lost their ‘bench mob.’

All these cocky, moronic Bulls fans coming out of the woodwork saying “we’re gonna kill Miami” as well as throwing in retarded LeBron jabs need to understand the game. Idiots.

When playoff intensity turns up, Bulls will struggle to score against Miami’s defense (again, like ’11 ECF) and Heat will advance in 4 or 5.
