Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis Fractured His Left Foot

The Orlando Magic lost both the game and big man Glen Davis lost night. Davis’ season is likely over, after he fractured his left foot in the first quarter. Per the Orlando Sentinel: “Davis fractured his left foot in the opening minutes of the Magic’s 113-97 loss to the New York Knicks on Wednesday night, leaving a rebuilding team that already was in freefall without one of its co-captains and its most effective low-post defender. ‘I just wish him the best,’ said point guard and co-captain Jameer Nelson. ‘I gave him a hug. There’s really nothing you can say to a guy other than, ‘I’m here for you,’ or something like that. I just hope everything goes well for him.’ Davis left the arena to make his way to Orlando during the game, and he will be examined in Central Florida on Thursday. Team officials will learn more about the severity of the injury and whether Davis will need surgery from that follow-up exam. [...] The injury will have a wide-ranging effect on the reeling Magic (14-31). First, it diminishes Davis’ value to other teams as the Feb. 21 NBA trade deadline approaches. Second, it increases the possibility that Orlando’s struggles will continue, which, in turn, will enhance the team’s chances in the NBA draft lottery. Davis suffered the injury as the Magic transitioned into their offense. As Davis ran down the court, he appeared to step on one of Iman Shumpert’s feet. Davis was subbed out 4 minutes, 20 seconds into the game, went to the locker room and didn’t return to the Madison Square Garden floor. Davis is averaging 15.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game this season, both career highs. He also missed 11 games earlier this season after he dislocated his left shoulder on Dec. 19.”
