Kobe Bryant Blames Himself for the Lakers’ Latest Loss

Asked to chase around point guards the last few games, not too surprisingly, Kobe Bryant’s field goal percentage has begun to fall off a cliff. He struggled once again on Sunday to find the mark (10 of 32 from the field), leading to the Los Angeles Lakers’ latest defeat. Bryant said he’s happy to take the blame for the team’s second consecutive defeat. From Twitter, the LA Times and Daily News: “This one is on me. Couldn’t throw the ball in the ocean if I was sitting on a boat. Had plenty of easy looks, #noexcuses gotta get my legs back … No one is more critical of my game then me. #brickcity past few games but they will fall and we will win #countonit.’ [...] ‘I’ve just got to rest my legs, man. My shot’s just short,’ he said after scoring 26 points on dreadful 10-for-32 shooting. ‘That’s on me. I’ll take this loss on me, gladly. There’s a lot of easy shots, a lot of them, that I should put down. And I will.’ Bryant will have barely 24 hours to rest. The Lakers continue a three-game trip Monday in Chicago. [...] ‘This team needs me on both ends of the floor,’ said Bryant. ‘So unless they’re going to do something roster-wise, I have to continue to push through it.’ Does Bryant believe the Lakers’ front office needs to make a move? ‘No,’ he said. ‘Listen, if this is what we’re rolling with, I can’t make excuses. I have to go out there and do my job.’”

LakeShow, I was reading your comments at work, and I appreciate you having my back. I will say though that I don’t need validation for my opinions from any commenter on this site, and neither should you or anyone else, really. Its a message board, and nobody here is commenting from a perspective other than fandom. Its OK to have an opinion that goes against the beehive mentality.

  • LakeShow

My conversation was between me and nbk. I was attempting to validate no one. I saw what appeared to be an unwarranted spiel.

Anyone that I see as a decent commenter, I will stick up for, whether they like it or not. It’s for me, not you.

I felt nbk went off unwarranted, and for ME, I took a stand on where a felt about “commenter Bob”… Who happened to be you.

You do whatever you damn please online, just as I will, just as nbk will.

On another note: Bulls tonight baby! :) Should be a fun one.

This is actualyl exactly what he was like. people need to go watch the postgame interview. it wasnt “Man, i’ve been bad, things are all on me.” It was a more “Im the leader, so i’ll take the blame because i’ve seen worse situations, and I just dont want the guys pointing fingers at eachother.” Not necessarily, cuz he thinks it IS his fault or not. But its good from a leadersip perspective, it just isnt what everyone is making it out to be.

my comment was in regards to the season as a whole, but for this game, i think its fair to say he blamed his off shooting for the loss, and willingly took the blame for the loss.

  • Redd

No, I mean I definitely think it’s good on him to try & get guys focused and him taking the criticism.

Hopefully they don’t decide to focus tonight lol.

I got dibbs on the Lakers. Still mad over the Raptors game, so the Bulls are enemy number one right now ;) Plus, they got the best Canadian player of all time running the show, so more incentive there lol

Yeah, Belfort looked tough, don’t know if this was a setup fight for Silva’s next fight but it would be pretty weak to see him fight Silva again, age is catching up with him (Belfort). The WTF? was shock, because I’m pretty sure you read almost every Laker article and Mr.P is pretty fanatical about his Kobe defense, just shocked you never saw it or picked up on it, I guess if maybe he was a Bulls fan or Heat fan you might have seen it earlier.

    Original……..

No the reason of the lakers struggles iz dat current coach.a real joke.

  • LakeShow

I honestly was surprised at how good Belfort looked, but he’s not going to beat Silva… The only people that want to see that fight again are Brazilians.
Bisping is such an elusive striker I couldn’t believe Vitor caught him with the same kick twice and nearly knocked him out with it both times.
I’m pumped for this Saturdays fight though!
    In regards to the fella:
Yes, I could tell he was a fan of the Lakers, but he didn’t seem fanatical Fairly realistic compared to allot of fans, but maybe I wasn’t catching all his posts.

As attractive as a Silva vs GSP fight would be, I don’t see GSP being able to do anything to Silva. GSP gets hit way too much, and Silva has had better wrestlers on top of him (Sonnen, Henderson). Also GSP doesn’t really finish fights, so not sure what he would try to do (maybe Sonnen him? and lay on top for a win) Maybe Belfort should fight that young wrestler (Weidman) for the next shot at the title.IDK just want Silva to retire undefeated in the UFC.
