LeBron James Very Frustrated By the Miami Heat’s Rebounding Struggles

Despite LeBron James’ confidence heading into last night’s game in Indiana, the Pacers got the win and dominated the Miami Heat on the boards (55-36). James was very angry about his team’s inability to rebound, a growing concern for the Heat. Per the Indy Star: “LeBron James started Tuesday by saying he didn’t like reading how the Indiana Pacers felt they were the better team in last season’s playoff series against his Miami Heat. James ended the day by wadding up a box score that showed the Pacers were better this year, at least for one night. Indiana 87, Miami 77. ‘It’s very frustrating, very frustrating,’ the NBA’s reigning MVP said of the numbers glaring at him on the statistical sheet. ‘We want to defend and you know, we want to clean (the) glass, too, and we continue to get out-rebounded. It’s very frustrating.’ The Pacers won the board battle by 19, which led to 17 more second-chance points at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Rebounding has been a regular problem for the Heat, who are better than only Boston in that NBA category. The Pacers rank third best. ‘That’s not going to win (a second consecutive championship),’ James said. After the game, James didn’t say if he feels the Heat are the better team right now, although the Eastern Conference standings show that his team is tops at 23-10 with the Pacers fourth at 21-14. Each leads its division as the halfway point nears.”

but i thought MIA didn’t need a big.

  • ByAnyMeansNecessary

He’s doing it. The problem is they fell in love with not needing a legit big bruising, rebounding big man after he ripped through the Playoffs playing the 4 at times. He can’t be asked to score, assist, rebound, steal and block for 82 games plus another run to the Finals especially since he’s had no break since December 2011. They may no longer need a PG like everyone used to say they needed. But they still need a center to protect the rim and rebound.

  • Redd

Disappointed they lost to the stupid Pacers.

But I imagine they find a big on a 10 day contract.

  • Redd

I’m waiting on Slam to cover the Randolph trade rumors, come on Slam!!

  • Anthony Dixon

should be fustrated with his 7 turnovers

  • Max

    Which Randolph trade rumors?

  • https://twitter.com/Wayne__o BuenoWayno1

I said it before n i’ll keep saying it, coach spo is overthinking to the point where its hurting the team. Bosh at center?,shane guarding PF’s? and mario is mario. This isnt 2K you wont get any with these wacky lineups in real life.

  • Redd

The Grizzlies are looking for a trade scenario for Randolph, I’m really wishing that they REALLY want to trade & the Bulls can offer up Boozer & Deng or something.

  • spit hot fiyah

bosh is their center and averages like 7 boards/game, that’s like brook Lopez. problem is they don’t have a humphries/evans to clean up the rest

  • Max

I deeply hope the Grizzlies don’t trade ZBo for Boozer, if that happens I will pee all over my keyboard.

  • bike

MIA’s assumption was always that Bosh would morph into a rebounding center. Not gonna happen. Ever.

  • Redd

LOL, but with maybe Taj or Deng(even though Gay is like Deng).

  • http://twitter.com/KingofKushSmoke PimpMaster of yo Hoe

Im frustrated with Bosh pulling down 5 boards

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

the Grizzlies are trying to trade Rudy Gay, not Zach Randolph.

  • Redd

Yeah but they’re also saying Zach is rumored as being shopped as well & apparently there isn’t really a Gay trade in the horizon.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

where are you coming up with this information tho? —- EVERYTHING i’m reading & hearing is saying Gay is being aggressively shopped. As in, the team doesn’t want him anymore.
    .
and considering John Hollinger is in house, while Rudy Gay is getting paid 17 million dollars to have a PER of 15.2 – i think it’s pretty clear why he’s about to get traded.

  • Redd

Excuse me, I misread, Zach’s name is in exploratory trade conversations. So he is being considered getting traded.

Also it seems the Kings are in talks for Gay.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

yeah, the Grizzlies only won’t trade Marc Gasol as far as i’ve heard. but Gay is who they prefer to move.

  • Key_34

This is on Spo’s rotations. You can’t have Bosh and a 6’7 Haslem or Battier as your post players and not expect to be outrebounded. His end of game lineup is Dwade, Bron, Battier, Jesus and Bosh for crying out loud. You can go small in the playoffs when the matchups are there, but not every night.

  • Redd

I don’t think so, Zach and Gay have the same contract so it’d be better for them to move Zach but Gay has more trade value.

  • LakeShow

And people have Bosh as a top 3 PF… Gotta rebound man. I feel like going off with a list that names players better than Bosh at rebounding, including SG’s, and SF’s.
FG% is nice, but there is a point where it doesn’t matter if you can’t rebound.
He use to snag 12 a game in Toronto. So he is fully capable… Right?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

you don’t think so what? —- i’m not confused about what i’m saying, i’m telling you, for sure, the team wants to trade Gay. Not Randolph. But they will move Randolph if they can get full value back for him.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Erik Spoelstra got Bosh guarding Centers. He’s essentially rebounding out of position. And frankly, isn’t a tough enough cat to out work most Centers on the glass for 40 minutes.

  • Redd

It depends on if they get similar contracts for Zbo & Gay, if they can move a 31 yr. old Zbo over a 26 yr. old Gay, I’m sure they’d do Zbo provided the return is beneficial.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

no, no, no, you don’t understand. They, personally, value Randolph more than Gay. And the trade market values Gay way way way more than Randolph. —- which, makes it pretty obvious that no matter what, they would rather trade Rudy Gay.

  • Redd

No I know Gay has more trade value, but you don’t find as many guys like Gay so idk why Zach would be valued more.

I didn’t know that but you’re very knowledgeable so I trust it’s true.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

for what the team relies on, and has in Marc Gasol. — Zach is more valuable. –

    .

you have to consider that the team hired John Hollinger.

    .

His baby is PER. — if they have a max level player (Rudy Gay), getting the average player PER, his value to them is going to be minimal.

    .

Zach Randolph on the other hand, fits beautifully next to Marc Gasol (who is probably the front runner for DPOY right now), and is sporting a PER of 20.1, which is the team high. Trading that away, would take a huge offer.

  • Redd

Yeah I felt like that’d be the reason for Zbo meaning more, but if you trade Zbo for a player much like him and/or who is good at making the extra pass inside, it’d be good. More so if said player was younger.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

well yeah, but that’s unrealistic. Z-Bo is a 31 year old who has had 2 major knee surgeries. No way you get anyone close to him as a player.

  • LakeShow

Yeah, but Bron is guarding allot of PF’s and he is rebounding better.

I dunno man, I just don’t feel there is a legit excuse; defense, and the fact he’s guarding centers permitted, but he needs to do more on the glass.
For a “Max Level PF” he should be boarding over 10 a game no matter what.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

LeBron is only guarding the PF’s that Battier can’t check. Offensively is where Bron plays PF.
    .
The paint is Chris Bosh vs two big men, with Shane Battier trying to cheat his way into position and failing.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    .

@WojYahooNBA: The Maloofs are finalizing an agreement to sell the Sacramento Kings to the Hansen-Ballmer led Seattle group.

  • LakeShow

Wow, thanks for the heads up!
    Is that for sure??
I’m moving back to the Seattle area within the next few years so i’m excited… To say the least. I wanted SAC above Naw’Lins and a expansion team, so this is fantastic news.

  • LakeShow

I know man, but common, Bosh needs to board better period… Yes?

  • Redd

True true, his stats are nice but you’re right. I think Memphis is headed up tho.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

No doubt, I’m just saying, I wouldn’t put more of it on him then the situation his coach is putting him in.

  • LakeShow

I completely understand that he is not being put in great rebounding position. At the end of the day, A Max Level PF needs to get more than 7.6 boards a game, is my perspective.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    That’s fair

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

It’s a Woj Bomb, so I don’t have any reason not to believe it.

  • Tre C

more Haslem, a little less Battier, they’ll be fine

  • andrew sauls

Miami differiently needs to boster their rebounding and inside play both offensive and defensive! They will not win a second cosecutive championship playing the way they are playing. Miami is getting KILLED INSIDE NIGHT IN AND OUT! I don’t know why they didn’t take a chance on Andrey Blantche or even Kingeon Martin. They need some serious help inside right now! GOOD LUCK

  • ard

The more you dwell on something the worse it gets! The media starts saying “Miami needs a big man, Miami needs a big man” now all of sudden………. Miami needs a big man! We did pretty good last year.
