LeBron James Wants All-Star Rosters Expanded to Avoid Snubs

by Marcel Mutoni @ marcel_mutoni

There are only 24 spots available on the two NBA All-Star rosters, and every year, fans and media complain about those who they feel were snubbed.

This season, names like Stephen Curry, Marc Gasol, Jamal Crawford, Brook Lopez, Josh Smith, Brandon Jennings, and even JR Smith are being mentioned as those who deserve to play in the big game next month.

LeBron James has a fairly simple solution to resolve the issue: add three All-Star spots per conference. While congratulating his buddies that made it, and lamenting those who weren’t invited, James proposed expanding the All-Star field to 30.

Per LBJ’s Twitter:

Congrats the all the All-Stars this year! Well deserved and especially S/O to the 1st timers! Don’t air ball that 1st shot. Hahaha.

Always believe there should be 15 on both rosters so there’s no snubs. #East- B.Jennings, J Smooth, PP #West- S.Curry, J.Crawford, M.Gasol.

The NBA occasionally takes steps to make sure the most deserving players take part in the mid-season showcase — the center position was eliminated on All-Star ballots this season, for instance.

LeBron James’ proposal makes sense, and the League would be wise to strongly consider it going forward.

I missed a second, jeez Major Payne!

  • Caboose

HOW DARE THEY PICK GEORGE HILL OVER JJ REDICK!!!!

  • Caboose

You’re still a sh!t sandwich. You’re just not a soggy one. From this moment, you are no longer a turd. You have graduated to a maggot!

  • Caboose

They stopped that because of the vague definition of “center.” Cases in point the past couple years: Amare, Duncan, Garnett, Bosh.

  • Redd

That escalated quicker than I had expected.

Kind’ve was a bit mean too..

    I love this comment

  • Caboose

Haha it’s a quote from Major Payne! Have you seen the movie with Damon Wayans? (I like you as a commenter, rest easy man)

  • Caboose

I think that describes a LOT of the regulars on this site. Minus the “prove point” part.

    Lol wth

  • Bored

Hill and Redick? maybe if there was 50 players on each team!

  • Caboose

    Even that’s pushing it haha.

  • Bored

lol yeah youre right, maybe 75 players on each team. we solved it! the NBA should change it to 75 players on each team. to accomodate players like Hill, Redick, Afflalo, Sessions etc etc.

in all honesty, they are having great seasons though.

  • Caboose

Haha they are. But then you leave out Aaron Brooks, Kosta Koufos, Thabo Seflosha, and Amir Johnson. I think the only way to avoid complaints would be to let every player make the All Star Team. But then you’d have to have more than 2 teams. I think 30 would be a good number. Then I think they do a months-long round robin tournament. What do you think???

so, you get my point lol. It would be never ending

  • Bored

yes we get your point. but we forget Vucevic, Lawson, Kemba, Mayo, Lowry, Kirilenko, Martin, Gortaaaaaat…..ahh the numbers just wont crunch!!

Totally agree. Brandon Jennings? Are people serious. Stephen and Brook Lopez got snubbed. Deng or Noah should have stayed home.

  • Da-Meat-Hook

    THIS!

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

My bad I didn’t see this earlier. I completely agree

  • Whoareyou

If an All-Star game is for my sheer entertainment, I personally don’t want to see Deng play. Noah is amusing in his own right, but I have yet to see a play from Deng to get me out of my seat. That isn’t to say he doesn’t deserve the all-start title; I’ll agree with what he’s done this year without the Bulls MVP, but for a game revolving around entertainment, he doesn’t do it for me. I have feeling during the ASG we’ll all be saying, Deng he’s on the bench again.

How dare they pick Chris Bosh over Udonis “Hasbeen”, and Kyrie Irving over Luke Walton, and no Kwame Brown, something is wrong here ………………

More All Stars will cheapen the value of making the All Star team. Keep it as it is. Too many players will mean fewer minutes for all of them. Screw what LeBron wants.

  • will

thing is people will always complain.

  • Armando

To be fair, although neither one had all-star careers, there can be made arguments for them deserving it the respective seasons they were chosen (Laettner more so than Magloire perhaps).

  • Armando

Bad idea LeBron. Give the players a say in this and it’s OK.

  • Armando

Agree. The only REAL snub this year is Curry. The rest is OK I guess.

    lmao major payne

  • MasterSplinter

3 on 3 would be awesome, and it would be cool if players didn’t have to be on the same NBA team.

  • Lorne

Not funny. I’m sure she’s just a baby since nbk is a young dude. You’re not only unfunny, but an unfunny perv. Congrats.
