Mike D’Antoni Vows Changes Upon Pau Gasol’s Return

Mike D’Antoni’s use of Pau Gasol has drawn a lot criticism, to put it lightly. Heading into last night’s game against OKC, D’Antoni vowed there will be “a lot of changes” when Gasol returns, including using Gasol inside more often. From the L.A. Daily News: “Whenever he returns, Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni vowed that he will feature Gasol inside more. ‘There’s going to be a lot of changes,’ D’Antoni said, citing the Lakers’ 15-20 record heading into Friday’s game against the Thunder. ‘We have to try to do everything. If that works, we’ll do it in a heartbeat.’ Lakers executive vice president of player personnel Jim Buss suggest Gasol play inside more, but D’Antoni insists the front office hasn’t advised him to make such a move. ‘We talked about it but they let me coach,’ D’Antoi said. ‘It’s pretty evident we’d like to get him more touches down there.’”

    always has an excuse

If they use him right he could be one of the most efficient options for the Lakers. Big if though.

this lakers coach is a real joke.

it is time to leave for mike and go back to the interim coach. It is more effective. Common sense is the key here. Can’t be by the book when this is the result. Worst for the purple and gold. Fire him!!!

It is the coach that needs to be changed not how to play the players. It is time to do something.. Hey Buss! wake-up!!!!

You keep saying it’s going to happen, but it won’t.

    just trade Pau already!

  • spit hot fiyah

with jordan hill out for the season, pau probably isn’t going no where. it’s on d’antoni to use him right, this is the same guy that dominated the Olympics less than 6 months ago (i think)

They gotta fire D’Antoni already. Phil will coach the team. He’s engaged to the owner’s daughter. If she asks nicely, i bet he’d sacrifice and take millions of dollars from his future father in law to coach the team as a favor to his future wife.

D’antoni is awful and this is a team with no margin for error. Though I am still utterly convinced that there in a way to utilize a Pau-Dwight post combo with a Nash-Kobe backcourt and dominate offensively, while still remaining respectable on defense. There’s a role in their for Metta, Meeks, Clark, Morris and Jamison.

The article says Pau helped lead the team to three titles, that is no the case, three finals is what you were going for. Really should have someone proofread. Also using video of NBA games and pictures is probably against copyright laws, considering you use your site to sell books…..just saying, don’t want you to catch the fade from the NBA’s lawyers

But Pau does get whipped like “the Gimp.” Agreed?

definitely Pau is the main reason the Lakers became relevant after Kobe requested his trade and such. We all know that deal was straight BS, but now Laker fans are calling for his head, if he gets traded I am pretty sure he will be competing with the NBA’s best (numbers wise) at the pf position. I can see him avg 19 and 9 on any other team, just like his career avg.

  • MustardsOffTheHotDog

That wasn’t a BS deal at all. The Grizzlies got Marc Gasol in that trade.

  • shutup

An unproven draft pick and not much else for arguably the best power forward in the L, (more like top 3 imo) The deal was major BS, look who brokered it Mr.Laker himself Jerry West lmfao, get your head out of your own arse kid

  • RunNGun

Only changes I’m seeing is more bench warming duties for Pau and that 38M contract…
