Rajon Rondo Suspended One Game for Bumping a Referee


Boston Celtics star point guard Rajon Rondo finds himself in hot water with the League again. He’s been suspended for making contact with a ref on Saturday night in Atlanta (here’s video of the incident). Stemming from the same game, Atlanta Hawks GM Danny Ferry has been docked $15K for uttering naughty words to the officials. From the NBA’s PR arm: “Boston’s Rondo suspended 1 game for making contact with an official and failure to cooperate with a league investigation. [...] Atlanta Hawks GM Danny Ferry fined $15,000 for inappropriate interaction with the game officials following the game against Boston on January 6.”

    its at times like these when we realize how absurd the nba’s office can be at times.

    it looked like the ref had a smirk on his face like rondo was joking w/ him.

    i really want to know what the ref has to say about what happened.

    I think it’s time to kick Rondo out of the league for good. He’s making a 2 year old child chucking a tantrum look like a saint. It’s the 2nd time he got suspended this season and we’re not half way through the season.

    BS call. What’s up with NBA ref’s this year? Soo many bad calls… terrible calls. Tech’s for nuttin. Blake Griff gets called when he even looks at a ref. WTF??

    i know RR lacks maturity, but this one, idk, it really didnt look intentional, ESPECIALLY if the ref didnt even see the need to call a tech or kick him out the game.

    Meanwhile, Celtics beat the Knicks at MSG without RR. I know he’s a great player, capable of a TripDub any night, but it just seems like the team has a slightly better chemistry without him. Danny has tried to move him before (for Chris Paul) and I wonder if he wouldn’t try to make a couple of big moves, instead of a small splash. At .500, they need something (and someone) big. I still like Rondo, but if the team can get another PG and a star C this season? I would worry about next year after banner 18.
