Bad news for Sacramento-based NBA fans, good news for Seattle-based NBA fans and former SuperSonic enthusiasts: the Maloofs are reportedly on the verge of selling the Kings to an ownership group looking to move the franchise further north. Via Yahoo!‘s Adrian Wojnarowski:

    sad for sacto fans but happy seattle will get a team back. i like sacto but to be honest never saw the need to have four teams in california to begin with. sacto had a nice run in the early 2000′s but lets be honest except for those couple of years 1999-2006 when has sacto been relevant. seattle has more of a history and the name change should be done asap if this happens. if the thunder want to take the kinds history fine! i would hate to see payton’s jersey retirement go up in okc.
