Sacramento Kings Will Reportedly be Sold to Ownership Group Looking to Move Team to Seattle


Bad news for Sacramento-based NBA fans, good news for Seattle-based NBA fans and former SuperSonic enthusiasts: the Maloofs are reportedly on the verge of selling the Kings to an ownership group looking to move the franchise further north. Via Yahoo!‘s Adrian Wojnarowski:

    stayed in a condo in belltown, so everything was really close by. here in sf, i thought the ferry building was great, but damn. the food at pikes blows it out of the water.
    also saw the chihuly glass exhibit. that guy’s work is insane.

    I’m not saying the people of Seattle are to blame or had a hand in this reported sale. I just find it hypocritical to say it is ok to take another sities team as long as you get yours back when this is the very thing the people of Seattle has said is an injustice when it happened to them. Basically, as long as we (seattle) are the team stealers we are cool with it. And the Maloofs have said the whole time they would not sell even though we have local buyers lined up. SHADY

    We have been shown that this is the going rate in the NBA today, so we are just using the guidelines to get our self a team.

    No one in Seattle is happy that Sacramento is losing their team. They are just more understanding than most.

    You, personally may have not said it was an injustice but the die-hard bball fans in Seattle have been saying that since the Sonics left. That is who I am (in a general sense) speaking to. Sacramento has an arena deal in place that is more than fair. We have the 20th largets TV market in the US. We have sponsors who have committed to supporting the team. We have local buyers willing to purchase the team and keep them in Sac. The people of the city have done their part. What needs to change is disregarding the fans that make the league profitable so horrible owners who have mismanaged their entire portfolio can not go broke.
