Blazers Acquire Eric Maynor from Thunder

The Blazers acquired Eric Maynor from the Thunder to backup Dame Lillard. OKC received a trade exception (around $2.5 million), but no draft pick.

he’ll be a solid backup point guard for the blazers

    This trade deadline was wack.

    Word it was weak…

one step closer to actually having a decent bench. They should make the playoffs next year.

Yup. PDX had possibly the worst bench in the League.

I remember last year how everyone was saying missing Maynor was a big key to the Thunder losing against the heat or how Maynor coming back would be able to help fill the void left by Harden and his play making abilities. OKC really likes Reggie Jackson huh?

  • analfissures

Maynor just hasn’t panned out this year. Don’t really know what happened, if the surgery he had just messed up some of his ability or what, but he’s just not the same player. He’s solid, yes, but Reggie Jackson provides abilities that Maynor can’t.

from the twitter quotes Maynor is super excited about exiting OKC…

    something smells funny w/ d’Tunder

  • analfissures

I think he’s just frustrated. Everyone else in OKC’s unit seems to be perfectly happy. Maynor just lost his backup PG spot this year, and he’s ready to move on and get some playing time.

  • Lillardtime

No, no… we do have the worst bench

  • theDankerNuggets

any move to add depth to the Blazers without breaking apart that starting lineup is a good one

  • roscoe

how about Perk being dangled out their as trade bait?

plus losing harden at the beginning of the season…

you’re too optimistic for me, but idk all of okc’s details.

You just have the lowest-scoring bench in the past 20-plus years…

  • manong

From the games I’ve seen Maynor has been pretty inefficient and was moved to the end of the rotation…which unfortunately is his own fault because when he was given the chance he did not perform. Maybe he will do better knowing that there is no one else jocking for his minutes.

As nbk pointed out on that thread, that was completely media-made. Had zero truth to it, someone just wanted to sell papers (or attract online attention), so they made something up. And Harden was just business. Can’t keep three superstars on your team without losing some other major pieces, so they made a decision. They seem solid to me.

  • roscoe

oh… forgive me… a SLAM message board troll named “nbk” made an authoritative claim about a rumor.

oh… why didn’t i take notes on dat?! why!?

check that… “Can’t keep three superstars” OKC and other small markets team cannot or will not.

kd’s tweet about losing maynor tells me everything is just a bowl of cherries in tunder land. smh.

  • analfissures

As much as I can’t stand the arrogant SOB, nbk knows his sh!t. Much better than most people. And all KD said was that he was going to miss Maynor, and then in the NEXT FREAKING TWEET he welcomed Ronnie Brewer to the team. You’re so ignorant, man. You must be working for the media, always trying to start something that’s not there. Childish.

  • permaculturejames

all I know is when I look at the point diff between PDX and opponents’ benches, dang, if its not 20-30 pts each time.

  • roscoe

yep… “nbk” is knowledgeable but i ain’t givin credit to anyone, lol.

I am “so ignorant, man” ??? – lets set the record straight; every man is a master in some area and i live by the motto that continuous learning is required.

in the same breathe i have raw opinions that offend, i know that, but that does not make me ignorant and my high school diploma proves that.

so… do you really believe westbrook and kd get along? in my opinion OKC is on the verge of falling apart. something isn’t working there.
