Boston Celtics Inked DJ White to a 10-Day Contract

26-year old DJ White has signed a 10-day contract with the Boston Celtics. White, a first round pick by the Detroit Pistons in the 2008 NBA Draft, had been hooping in China prior to landing a deal with the C’s. Per the Boston Herald: “White, who will be the third new face since the trading deadline — Jordan Crawford and Terrence Williams being the other — is a 6-foot-9, 250-pound, 26-year-old who has been playing in China this season. He averaged 21.6 points and 9.7 rebounds in 32 games for the Shanghai Sharks. White played last year in Charlotte, where he started 11 of the 58 games in which he played. He averaged 6.8 points and 3.6 rebounds while playing 18.9 minutes per game.”

No one knows who DJ White is. And if you do, you probably are a hoop junkie. This guy and Eric Gordon tore it up at Indiana in 08′. This is a nice pre-playoffs pickup for Boston.

Nobody will make him forget the first DJ or White we had in Boston before him. Still, he will be a good body to have on the bench, to occasionally spell Bass or Jeff Green. Also notable fact that he scored nearly 700 points in two seasons for a horrible Bobcats team, so he is a more experienced NBA player than the majority of younger, healthy bodies to choose from. The other possibility would have been Hakim Warrick.
