Carmelo Anthony May Sit Out the All-Star Game With Bruised Arm

An elbow to Carmelo Anthony’s right arm wrecked his jumper last night, resulting in a horrific 12-point performance (on 5/24 shooting from the field) as the New York Knicks lost 92-88 to the Toronto Raptors. Melo says he won’t play in Sunday’s ASG if the biceps injury lingers. Per Newsday: “He said he suffered the injury while trying to step in front of a driving DeMar DeRozan in the first quarter and took an elbow to his biceps. ‘It was kind of like a dead arm out there,’ Anthony said. ‘I was just trying to get through, get some feeling back into it. It is what it is at this point.’ Anthony said he tried to treat the injury by keeping it warm and stretching it at halftime but ‘the stretch kind of made it a little bit worse.’ [...] Standing in front of his locker, Anthony said if he continued to feel discomfort in the arm in the coming days, he would not risk further injury by playing in the All-Star Game. ‘I’m not going to force it,’ Anthony said. ‘I’m definitely not going to force. As bad as I want to play and participate, if I can’t go, I can’t go. Nothing I can do about that.’”

Better to take that rest and be fully prepared and healthy for the second half of the season. I wanted to see him in the All-Star Game though :(

The weakest excuse to sit out the All Star game so far.

He had a bruised arm but he proceeded to take 24 shots?

Sounds like something Melo would do. Shoot his pain away.

Somewhere, KG is listening to “Shook Ones” and smiling.

Melo would still take 24 shots if he had a bruised bicep, missing finger, broken wrist, ingrown fingernail, and the All Defensive First Team guarding him.

If Josh Smith is not chosen as a replacement he should just retire. Yes he should have been chosen ahead of lopez.
