Derrick Rose Participated in 5-on-5 Drills for the First Time

The Chicago Bulls still don’t want to say too much about Derrick Rose’s progress, but they did admit that their superstar took part in five-on-five team drills for the first time since his left knee surgery. Per the Sun-Times: “According to head coach Tom Thibodeau, Rose was ‘doing what he should be doing. He’s focused on his rehab, doing more and more. We just have to be patient. When he’s ready, he’ll go. He did what everyone else did. Just a normal practice.’ Joakim Noah, however, fresh off of his first All-Star Game appearance over the weekend, had a different view of how much Rose participated. ‘Just a little bit,’ Noah said. ‘Not too much.’ Then again, Thibodeau summed up statements that come from Noah with an ‘I don’t pay attention to what [Noah] says,’ so it’s tough to decide who to believe. What was known was that Rose ran with the first team, as well as working some second teamers in the mix to get a few different looks.”
