Greg Oden to Reportedly Get 2-Year Contract from the Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers are believed to be the favorites to land oft-injured center Greg Oden, and according to the Akron Beacon Journal, the Cavs are set to offer the big man a two-year deal: “The Cavs are expected to offer free agent center Greg Oden a two-year contract with a team option for a third year after the Feb. 21 trade deadline passes, a league source said. The contract would begin immediately. The Cavs have about $4 million in cap space, which they are preserving now for potential trades. Teams around the league don’t want to sign Oden until after the trade deadline. Oden has visited with the Boston Celtics and could meet again with the Cavs in the coming weeks, his agent said Friday. Oden is living nearby in Columbus. His agent, Mike Conley Sr., said last week Oden has been to see the Cavs a couple of times already, but was evasive when pressed as to what capacity. ‘Greg has been up there (to Cleveland) before and he’ll probably be up there again in an official capacity,’ Conley said Friday.”

    I wish the kid well.
It would be one of the more remarkable comebacks in NBA History.

2015 Champs Oden, Thompson, LeBron, Waiters, Irving. Haha Cleveland can always keep dreaming. I hope he plays next season. If he’s serious about his health he’ll go to Phoenix for a year or two. They alreay handled a player who’s even bigger than him in Shaq and one who’s just as explosive in Amare. I don’t know much about the medical staff of the Cavs. I just hope he get’s back, healthy and happy.

Sticking with Z through recurring injuries through the early part of his career really turned out to be a good move for the Cavs; no reason the same can’t happen with Oden.

Actually from the looks of it, I don’t see any reason why LeBron wouldn’t leave an aging Miami Heat to play for a young, up and coming Cavaliers he would indeed be that final piece to vault them to the top of the standings, pending *if* Oden can stay healthy, and Dion Waiters learns to shoot efficiently, I don’t see any reason why LeBron wouldn’t.

Oden, if healthy, could be head-and-shoulders above every other center in the league. He is a tremendous talent, which makes his health situation all the more tragic. Prayers for the big man.

Big-time move for the Cavs. He’s working out nearby at OSU and should be plenty ready and motivated for next season.

Let’s be real, he won’t ever be an incredible center be I feel with limited minutes can be an effective center.

People really shouldn’t expect him to be an all-star, if he becomes 1 it’d be one of the greatest comebacks ever but I don’t think we can realistic consider that..yet.

Good luck on Dion Waiters shooting efficiently. That was a reach at pick # 4. Shooting guard who can’t really shoot. Now they have two of them with Waiters and CJ Miles. But yea, with Irving, Lebron, a solid SG defender, and Tristan and Varejao at the 4 and 5 spots, they would be pretty good. Good blend of veterans and young players.

Lebron and Lebron’s Grandpa on one team? Might as well bring back the rest of the Lebrons too!

  • MACARONI

    Lmao

  • big kamp beezy

I see one big reason he wouldn’t go back… Dan Gilbert. Don’t think Bron forgot all that Gilbert said when he left

  • JML-G

id prefer for him to sign with Miami, where he wouldnt have pressure of actually being serious contributor, but w/e – as long as Oden gets back, ill be happy!

  • Ugh

If he can keep having games where he gets 20 rebounds he could be an All-Star. We’ll see.

would be amazing to see this guy come back and do work down the paint

  • Max

    Technically it’s not a comeback, it’s just a start.

  • SayWUT

This guy is finished. Put a fork in it. Finito. Anyone who thinks otherwise is crazy, so that would obviously include Cleveland.

  • Zabbah

How many games did he have 20 rebounds. Or better yet, how many games has he even played in, lol?
