Kevin Durant Unhappy With Utah Jazz Fans

The OKC Thunder lost a tough one in Utah last night 109-94, and in addition to the sting of defeat, Kevin Durant says that Jazz fans near the Thunder bench crossed the line. From KD’s Twitter page: “I love playing in Utah, just upset at how the fans treated us behind our bench….we don’t deserve that..but I’m movin on”.

Nothing new here. We’ve only heard bad things about Utah Fans.

wow, they are bad. Duke has to be at the top though, what they said to that boy from nc state was foul

    dam mormons

But I say it every time one of these stories is on here and I think people think I’m kidding: it’s pent up Mormon rage. A people that can’t (and genuinely don’t) drink, swear, have sex pre-marriage, drink coffee, etc, get into that arena and lose their minds. Just try driving on the roads with these people.

  • Max

    What’d they do?

  • Mvp23100

    Said some racist s**t probably

  • David Cook

You guys are as ignorant as it gets. do you realize that a large population of Salt Lake City is not mormon? Including a large part of the fanbase at the games. One reason we are sop passionate is because it is our one major sports team besides our mls soccer team. Durant was frustrated he and perkins both got flagrant fouls. This is nothing. ESA is continually voted as one of the best arenas.

  • initbruv

Well also most people in the arena didn’t cover their eye to taunt Fisher about his cancer ridden daughter a few years ago. It’s always the minority of people that make us look bad. But the evidence is mounting that a lot of out of control people who take heckling too far go to Jazz games. If you’ve ever gone to a game in the lower bowl you know that’s true. I went to games back when Kobe was dealing with his legal troubles and there were all kinds of comments about it being shouted out. I don’t know how much that happens at other arenas but I know it happens at ESA any time I’m lucky enough to be in the lower bowl.

atleast the fans put the cowbells to rest.

  • http://www.facebook.com/chris.callihan1 Chris Callihan

    hapens in most arenas unfortunately

  • http://www.facebook.com/chris.callihan1 Chris Callihan

chanted “how’s your grandma” a few days after the dude’s grandma died

  • Tuttle

Being one of the people that Durant is referring to let me just say on our behalf…..We do what we can to help get our team the W. You can say what you want. We weren’t swearing (and I do drink) just merely saying things that spoiled brats that are losing to a team that they are much better than couldn’t handle. I enjoy the trash talk (it is what separates the nba from other leagues) and won’t stop and if the league stops it then all of you poor stiffs can go watch the millionaire illiterate gun toting gangsters play in a golf-like atmosphere. I was right there and even the security guards were talking about how Westbrook and Durant had lost it and were acting like spoiled children. I love KD but he was extremely out of character last night both on the court and after. PS more than half of the people around us (by the bench) were OKC fans. It wasn’t that bad

  • Tuttle

    Nice spelling idiot

  • Tuttle

I hope you are kidding. One the cowbell situation comes from the kings not the jazz and there just happen to be a cowbell at last nights game

  • Tuttle

Um the people causing the problems were drinking. Nice generalization though. I hope for your sake ignorance is bliss

  • Max

    That is sad.

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

check yo facts kid. jazz fans rocked with the cowbells for a bit.

  • BB Guns

I was the fan that OKC security required be interviewed. What a joke! We give good-natured teasing and sarcasm to these guys and they blow their tops. I said “run an iso for Perkins” a couple times w/ 6 minutes left and after he turns around and says he gonna f my mamma (to which I told him he was sick for digging 65 year olds). And we are the classless ones? Perkins is a thug that popped Jefferson twice in the face. I sit there most games. We are never racist or personal. We absolutely enjoy getting under their skin and stirring the pot. And it will continue.

  • f

I don’t come to your job and slap the dick out of your mouth…

Everyone was take note of the thinly racism in this comment. “Millionaire, illiterate gun-toting gangstas…” Which one of this things applies to Kevin Durant? Sounds like this guy believes his ticket gives him the right express some pent up rage that he has for n*ggers with money. That is why he loves the League.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

if i right damn then i dunno if it is going to get taken off. Next time I will write d*mn. I’m sorry if I offended you. Sir.

  • Happy

Thinly veiled? Its pretty damn obvious to me.

  • Happy

You’re just as ignorant as the comment you responded to. Funny how above you described the predominantly black players as a bunch of illiterate gun toting millionaire gangsters, and get pissed when someone does the same to people in your area. Maybe you and Salty should get together and hang out, since you’re both ignorant losers who don’t know what they’re talking about.

  • TV63

    and unacceptable.

  • Redd

    You’re a racist clearly.

  • http://twitter.com/AjpDos Allen Powell

Nah it was veiled. No obvious racial identifiers to make it easier for like minded folks to defend.

  • Max

    Damn.

  • Happy

That’s the game they like playing and I’m tired of it.

There seems to be this unwritten rule where you can’t call someone a racist unless they use the slur n*gger. No matter what obvious, disgusting stereotypes you put forth, it’s all good because you didn’t mention black people specifically. I’m so tired of this phony nonsense. I at least respect a blatant racist. They don’t piss on your head and try to convince you it’s rain.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

lol well i don’t know what’s gonna happen, nobody swears on here

  • Salty

Lol way to take a stand you sensitive sally. Repressed people act crazy sometimes. I don’t think that’s too contoversial. And I’ve lived in Utah for 25 years. How about you?

  • Happy

Utah isn’t the only place Mormons live. Your 25 yrs living in Utah makes you both a psychiatrist and an expert on Mormonism? Good to know.

  • Salty

What are your credentials to speak on anything? we’re all just a bunch of *ssholes on a comment board. And Mormons in Utah are a different breed than out of state Mormons. Ask any Mormon who comes here from out of state…oh wait you can’t because you don’t live here and don’t know what the f*ck you’re talking about.

  • KevinWarren

These are just men doing a job for the enjoyment of the fans. Yes they are playing a game but it’s still just a job. They don’t deserve your vitriol. What did they ever do to you?

Fortunately, Karma’s a B!tch and your “stirring of the pot” will someday be returned in kind.

  • Max

I don’t think damn is swearing in SLAM’s book, but you can’t say f*ck and stuff.

  • BB Guns

Good call Redd, that’s why all my 90% of my posters growing up were of black athletes and I shell out $2k a game to back my Jazz ( who share the same demographic) . Perkins is a mess

  • Happy

Well that settles this issue. Your favorite players were black.

  • Happy

You’re making sweeping generalizations about entire groups of people and I’m the one who doesn’t know wtf I’m talking about?

Speaking of credentials, You’re a psychiatrist or a PhD in psychology?

You’ve met ALL Mormons in Utah and other states?

I don’t need to live in a place to determine that you’re just a bonehead on a basketball site making generalizations about entire groups of people. If I lived there, you’d still be a dumb@ss who posted a dumb@ss comment.

  • Salty

Um I generalize about people when they generally behave a certain way. You’re one of those cultural relativists aren’t you? Worthless, the lot of you. You know the whole idea of culture is a generalization right?

  • Salty

Do you believe that there is no such thing as culture?

  • Happy

This is awesome: “I generalize about people when they generally behave a certain way”.

Thanks for that. Pure genius. Say no more, pal.

  • Salty

    Good, glad you understand.

  • http://twitter.com/BEdotwater Orlando Coolridge

That sounds like the response “I’m not racist, I have black friends”

Except yours is posters of “black athletes”

  • Redd

Ok? That’s like saying “I have black friends”, idc? You’re still a racist, idiot.

  • http://twitter.com/apowellAdvocate Allen Powell II

I understand your frustration, my own frustration and my smart phone is what led to so many typos in my initial post.

  • Andy

I’ve been to 15+ home Jazz games in the last year and have taunted with the rest of em. Mormons aren’t even over 50% of the population here in Salt lake. You guys are shouting that how morally wrong stereotypes are in then you group everyone in Utah as ignorant mormons.

Jazz games are hecklers, but the majority don’t cross the line like those guys at the Duke game. The fan KD is talking about just gave an interview saying he was yelling at Durant “reminding him that it was KD’s team. He needed more touches.” This was early in the game when Westbrook was smoking. Near the end of the game the dude said he was saying “run an iso for Perkins.” and then Perkins came at him about his mother. The guy got stopped by security and had to give an official report. Much of which was confirmed by security guys around him at the game.

  • Name

What did he say that was so racist?
