LeBron James Isn’t Sold on Kobe Bryant The Distributor

by Ryne Nelson / @slaman10

Before Thursday night’s disaster in Boston, Kobe was averaging 7.8 assists over his previous 10 games. Not bad for a guy who shoots more than anyone in the League.

But LeBron James doesn’t buy the new Magic Bean Bryant persona. James recently discussed his team’s upcoming match-up with L.A. and the new pass-happy Bryant.

From Fox Sports Florida:

LeBron James was asked if he’s buying it that Kobe Bryant has become a distributor. He said “no” and added more.

“Do I buy that?” James said. “No. He told you all before, he’s a scorer. He said it every day, ‘I’m a scorer and this is what I do.’ So I don’t buy it. No. You guys buy it, though. I see how you all go, ’49 assists in four games,’ whatever. You guys are going crazy about that. I don’t buy that. He’s a scorer.’’

It will be interesting to see what role Kobe plays when the Lakers face the Heat tomorrow on national television. He may just drop another double-double—we all know Kobe loves a challenge.

    LONG… LIVE… THE KING.

  • bill

    Tssssssss, Lebron….tsssssss!

  • Lloyd

Not a big Kobe fan, but never poke a snake if you don’t want to be bitten…

  • Initbruv

When you’re king of the jungle you poke whoever you want.

  • Redd

    LOL

  • Redd

    Lebron’s right, I agree.

But on a side note…I think it’s crazy Slam hasn’t jumped on the Michael Jordan returning story.

  • TBRK

Hahaha Bron Bron no backing down from big brother!!!

  • Lloyd

It’s never wise to give Kobe more motivation

  • zogs19994

MAN…Y’ALL BANDWAGON ON PLAYERS SO GODDAMN HARD NOWADAYS…

“KING OF THE JUNGLE”…LOL SHUT UP

  • Initbruv

Bandwagon? Otherwise known as realizing the greatness of a player. Since he is better now than he was in the past it would make sense for someone who doesn’t always write in all caps to decide that they ought to give him his due.

And you’re damn right he’s the king of the jungle.

  • The Philosopher

    That is classic.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Brill86 Andrew Woods

Sooo he is giving Kobe motivation to dish out 10assist ??

  • zogs19994

IM JUST STATING THAT 90% OF PEOPLE WERE LEBRON HATERS AFTER HE WENT TO MIAMI…..

    CAPS?

    ….IM A SCREAMER……LIKA YO MAMA!

  • Lloyd

Lakers play better when Kobe distributes. If he shelled out 10 assists, mostly to big guys who the Heat can’t match up with, then there’s a good chance they could win. Not sure what you’re trying to get at…

  • Initbruv

Yeah and then his game and his attitude improved so he gets more respect now. Get it?

    Calm the f*ck down.

  • Datkid

Too bad all those big guys that the heat can’t match up are injured. The Lakers are taking another L

  • Datkid

best player in the league by far

  • Caboose

I disliked LeBron from roughly 2006-2013. That doesn’t mean I didn’t know he was and is the best player in the game right now. He is better than Kobe now, he is better than Kobe at his peak, he will retire with more points, assists and rebounds than Kobe and will be universally seen as having a better career than Kobe. And that has nothing to do with hate, emotion, or ignorance. Just the simple truth.

  • RKJ92

LOL Zogs Idk how you think of some of this ish, but its funny as hell.. you see how calm LeBron is next to Kobe in the video? 0 acknowledgment, and dude ain’t even shook..

  • RKJ92

Says the guy who’s not a Kobe fan, stop riding him so hard you’ll break out in a rash..

  • RKJ92

    That was poetry, lol

  • roscoe

MIA is going to try to wipe LAL off the court just like they did w/ LAC.

MIA is trying to send a message to the entire league as we approach the all-star break.

It will be interesting to see how LAL responds Sunday, if they do at all.

And for anyone thinking kd is the MVP you’re nuts, bron bron is MVP hands down, print it.

  • RKJ92

    Do you have a link?

  • Lloyd

How is it riding him to say a fact? After I clearly stated I’m not a fan of his so my comment would therefore be objective. Get off my comment bro

  • Lloyd

Dwight’s still there and there’s no one on the Heat that can check him. Most likely they lose, but doesn’t change the fact that a passing Kobe=better Laker team.

  • Nashty

Kobe is better than Lebron, we all now that. But Jordan is far away ahead of both KB and LBJ.

It is so obvious that LBJ is better than Kobe ever was

-LBJ has won 3 mvps and is on his 10th season
-Kobe has won 1 mvp and is on his 17th season

-LBJ has averaged over 50% 3 times and is working on his 4th…he’s shooting 56% :0
-Kobe has averaged over 47% on a season ZERO times

-They have the same career 3PT%. However LBJ has been steadily improving and is shooting 42% this season, something Kobe has never done.

-Obviously LBJ is a better rebounder, he’s usually averaging 2-3 more rebounds a game than Kobe

-Obviously LBJ is a better distributor, averaging nearly 3 more per game for the career

-LBJ is a better defender. Not really an arguement

-Here’s another fun stat, LBJ has 29 career triple doubles
    -Kobe has 17

I mean honestly it’s not even that close

I really want KD to be MVP because he is having an unbelievable season. But what LBJ is doing right now is not human.

  • RKJ92

    Thank you.

  • Redd

    No problem

  • RKJ92

It’s OBVIOUS your a clear fan of Kobe.. I seen you hyping him in other posts too, idc what you say, but dont be like im not a fan.. but this is how great he is..

  • pposse

    NICE!

  • pposse

i havent been watching too much NBA this season, but i know this much, if you give KD the same team Miami has their record would be just as good if not better. KD is a lethal player, to dismiss him is ridiculous. whats he at right now, 30 pts 8 rebs? Anywhere near that is more than worthy of MVP consideration, and if his team has a better record the MVP is a lock for KD.

  • Matt

And I thought Lebron had finally hit that point where people FINALLY realized Lebron is and was better than Kobe…

  • Matt

No, Miami would not be good or at least better. Lebron does waaaaay too many things for the Heat that KD cannot do. Other than the obvious ones, like “be a facilitator”, etc, Lebron is the best (or at least top 3) fastbreak player in the league (and there are numerous stats to back that up), probably the best crosscourt passer in the league (for almost everyone else that’s a turnover waiting to happen), one of the most versatile and effective defenders in the league, an excellent pick-and-roll player (even though KD is much improved this year), and more effective as the roll man (I think the Wade/Lebron PNR will be an important part of the Heat’s repotoire if they make the Finals)..

Now, that’s not to say that KD isn’t able to do some things better than Lebron; namely, KD’s post game is better than Lebron’s (in fact, by the numbers, KD currently ranks in the top ten I think) and he’s a much better high-volume shooter. This means that KD provides more spacing to an offense. However, KD has tons of mismatches in the post (like having Kidd guard him) because the Thunder run smart plays to create these mismatches which plays into KD’s better PPP numbers for his post ups.

Really, Lebron and KD are very different players and both have teams that have adapted VERY well to their specific skillsets.

    lol wtf

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

    craaazy

  • Lloyd

You don’t have to be a fan of a player to recognize that he’s one of the best in the world…otherwise you’re just an ignorant hater…my opinion of him doesn’t reflect his skill as a basketball player. I don’t like DWade, but I can admit he’s an incredible player. You gonna say I’m riding DWade now too? Wow.

  • King David

    F*ck Lebron

  • bike

LeBron has the potential to be the G.O.A.T

  • The Seed

To say that, you don’t understand NBA History. He is not even close to Kobe’s career yet.

  • The Seed

Kobe played with Shaq, Shaq got one because of KOBE, Kobe should have 2, but who is counting. Lebron plays with NOBODY, Wade career is over. He can’t even stop his own teammate from looing way better than him. Kobe did this to Shaq. Also the shooting percentage don’t matter. Kobe is a SG and play with post players. Lebron does not. Lebron career is not even close.

  • Happy

He does have the potential to be the GOAT. All Kobe has over him are better teams. Individually, Kobe has one more Finals MVP than Lebron. One.

  • Happy

Kobe did play with Shaq. Thats why he has more rings than Lebron. The same argument you use against Lebron makes it even worse for Kobe.

  • LobCity

Not even close in what sense? Obviously he’s not close in totals because Kobe has played in so many games, but he’s on pace to smash a lot of his records, as is Kevin Durant.

  • Ugh

If he wants a universally better career he has five rings to go.

  • Caboose

That is idiotic. Wilt has 2 rings. He has a universally better career than Kobe. Unless you wanna argue that Kobe has had a better career than Wilt (good luck), your initial argument is wrong. Take your pick.

  • shutup

That can’t be the real Seed, so many mistakes…..sounds like a complete moron……hit the edit button….put the sweater on, give her a hug and tell her “do better”…..

  • grow a seed first

Yeah. Wade is so much done that he just put 30 on your boy on 12-18 shooting. Keep dreaming son

  • pposse

im not saying KD Is the better basketball player than LBJ, just that when considering your MVP this year KD has a leg up imo. He’s got a couple things going for him, his Winning, his stats, and Lebron already receiving 3 awards tend to turn the voters in another direction.

DWade Bosh and the rest of the Heat would adapt accordingly if KD were on the team, they are too good of players not to. On the other hand i do think if Lebron were on the Thunder they would probably be winning 65 plus games in the regular season.

  • Matt

“but i know this much, if you give KD the same team Miami has their record would be just as good if not better”

I was obviously responding to that statement and not your MVP one…

  • roscoe

Bron bron isn’t trying to get stats pposse while OKC needs kd’s stats.

if bron bron wanted he could avg. 40/10/10 right now.

He is incredible, hands down… the beast of league.

the only part of his game that needs help is shaving his dome.

just wait til after the all-star break the beast is going to wake up and tear his way to the finals breaking everyone’s will.
