Magic Waive Hakim Warrick

The Magic have officially released Hakim Warrick, reports the Orlando Sentinel. He was expected to be waived after being traded for Josh McRoberts and may have a tough time finding another team to sign on with. The move frees up a roster spot for Orlando.

Damn that sucks. I always thought Hakim was underrated.

these kind of trades always have me scratching my head.

as a league don’t you think they want players to play in games? i don’t get it.

LA should definitely go after him to replace Jordan Hill/Gasol (if/when he returns healthy). I don’t get how an athletic PF, who not long ago could give you 12/5 off the bench becomes a “throw-in waive” in a trade. I guess he’s just one of those guys not good enough to win you games, but good enough to stop you from being to awful and tank.

Just another sign that teams don’t know what they’re doing basketball-wise (but, hey… it’s not like winning games pays your bills, right?)

I agree that he’s underrated and that the Lakers should look at him (not old fart Raja Bell. Do they really need another guy over 33y?)

Always thought Danny was interested in Warrick, but not enough to warrant the money he ended up getting elsewhere. Now he can be had for nothing. I might take him over DJ White, but they want a little more size.

You act like Hakim Warrick is good.. he’s a poor bench player at best now, and he is old. That is why he is a throw in to waive, Orlando was just clearing cap space and with their record I don’t blame them; you need to think outside the box.

that’s right, he’s athletic- but the league is full of guys who can catch lobs and dunk and grab 6 fouls. championship teams need guys who can make ft’s, make the extra pass, set good picks and outlet well. Hakim does none of those well- but can throw down. The ability to do those other things consiistently are more valuabe to +- and wins ultmately.
