Phoenix Suns Reportedly Want to Move Marcin Gortat for Kendrick Perkins


According to the AZ Republic, the Suns are interested in a trade that would include Marcin Gortat in exchange for Kendrick Perkins. Jermaine O’Neal could also be on the move by tomorrow’s trade deadline: “ESPN.com reported New York’s interest in Jermaine O’Neal and Toronto’s interest in Sebastian Telfair while another source said there was All-Star break talk of Oklahoma City exploring Marcin Gortat and P.J. Tucker for Kendrick Perkins, Jeremy Lamb and a first-round pick. Perkins is the type of center to fit the new defensively geared culture, although he is limited offensively for a team wanting to post up its big men. Lamb probably would have been the Suns’ draft pick in June had Houston not made a trade to move up two spots and take him in front of Phoenix. The Suns do have $6.4 million of cap room to take on salary in a deal, but it is more likely that the Suns stand pat to protect their two first-round draft picks and salary-cap space, which leaves room to sign a maximum-level free agent.”

    Don’t like me being wrong then ignore it. I understand the majority feel I’m wrong, heck no one has agreed with me but I still think what I think because you can’t know how Gortat reacts to playing with Wbrook & KD.

    So again, I’ll continue giving my opinion without regard for what people I’ll never meet think, c’est la vie.

    Still to this day, I believe that Harden was the biggest reason why OKC lost in the Finals. Think about it, Perk sucked throughout the WC playoffs yet OKC made it all the way to the Finals while Harden was the deciding factor during the WCF. If he had been able to replicate a similar performance in the Finals, OKC wins.

    But we do KNOW Gortat is a much better player. Your opinion is about as logical as someone saying Iman Shumpert is better than Paul George. Or David West is better than Blake Griffin. Or Carlos Boozer is better than Chris Bosh. It’s wrong. And it’s ignorant. .
    And why do you keep telling me to ignore you? I just explained that if you say something wrong we ARE going to let you know. Repeating yourself is only making me do the same thing. .

    You talk about ignorance yet can’t accept that in my opinion Gortat doesn’t fit in OKC..that’s an opinion..you cannot know if he does until he plays there which he now won’t. I’ve even said Gortat is having a better season but again I don’t think he fits in OKC..it’s an opinion.

I don’t watch the Suns often but there’s oddly a lot of Bulls/Bears fans in Phx & I was discussing Gortat with them & the majority said what I also believed to be true from seeing them play against us. He’s a good rebounder but doesn’t pass well.

    and that link was another time you offered up an opinion on the Suns and their players without actually knowing anything about what you were saying.
    “doesn’t pass well” is a fine criticism of Gortat. just fine. that doesn’t make any sense when comparing him to Perkins tho, who also doesn’t pass well. Or do anything at all well for that matter except guarding the post. But if that’s your only reason, then say so in the first place. It would have saved both of us all of this stupid banter.

    I’m not gonna waste your time because you could be wasting font on someone more on your level of Ball IQ. But again, my opinion is based on my belief he doesn’t fit the center starter role on OKC.

    I hear your point but if you remember that series OKC played from behind most of the series. A big part of that was they had no post presence when Perkins played. They made majority of their runs when Collison played. Gortat is a much better Collison. Especially game 2 (the game everybody points to when bringing up Harden) Collison mins dropped form 20+ which he never saw again for the rest of the series. I’m not saying had Collison played more OKC would’ve won but having a Gortat/Collison big man rotation is dramatically better than Perkins/Collison. Also OKC went on a historic shooting spree in the WCF to beat the Spurs which is extremely hard to duplicate.

    No, maybe I overreacted but I get it. So let me attempt to explain. Perkins isn’t having a good year but he has proven that his D is great whereas Gortat hasn’t BUT as of late clearly it seems Perk’s blocking has become abysmal & Gortat has done well. Gortat is having a good year but I don’t think he’d fit well with OKC’s team especially not mid-season personally. I also don’t see Gortat complimenting Ibaka like Perk does.
