Brandon Jennings Complains About Benching in Loss to Sixers

Milwaukee Bucks head coach Jim Boylan yanked a struggling Brandon Jennings (0 points, 3 assists) in the third quarter last night, and Jennings never saw the court again as the Bucks lost 100-92 to the Philadelphia Sixers. Brandon was not pleased, as you might expect. Per the Journal Sentinel: “Jennings was held scoreless for the first time in 281 career NBA games as he went 0 for 3 in 17 minutes. Monta Ellis shifted over from shooting guard and played the point the rest of the way. ‘This is the third time I’ve been benched in the second half and it hasn’t been under (former coach Scott) Skiles,’ Jennings said after the game. ‘You always want to be out there to help your team. I don’t see any all-stars in this locker room so I think everybody should be held accountable, like anybody else. There’s no maxed-out players in this locker room; there’s no all-stars. So don’t try to put me on a pedestal and just give everybody else the freedom to do whatever they want.’ Jennings said he feels he is being singled out. ‘Of course,’ he said. ‘This is the third time this has happened. We had a sluggish start but we still had a chance to win it. It was there for us to take.’ Asked how he would respond for the Bucks’ home test against the Los Angeles Lakers, Jennings said: ‘It’s up to him whether he’s going to put me in the game or not,” referring to coach Jim Boylan. ‘Just go with the flow.’ Boylan said he was reacting to the Bucks’ sluggish start to both halves and low energy. ‘At the point of attack, you need to have some intensity,’ Boylan said. ‘That was a little bit lacking tonight. I just felt I needed to do something to try to energize our team. We played with pretty good energy toward the end of the first half, and then we came out in the second half and we were right back to how we had started the game.’ [...] ‘When you play that position (point guard) there comes a lot of responsibility,’ Boylan said. ‘The offense is initiated from that position. The talent at that position in this league is outstanding. So you have to bring it every single night, at both ends of the floor. If that’s not happening, you need to do something. I just felt I needed to do something tonight, so that’s what I did.’”

maybe he should take a look at his +/- before running his mouth…

Your team was a – 25 with you on the court in 17 minutes of action.
It was an 8 point game.

basically, Brandon Jennings doesn’t’ attack the basket. It seems like Boylan has probably been trying to get Jennings to be more aggressive since he took over, but Jennings has reverted back to how he was playing earlier in the year.
There was that week, week and a half stretch where Jennings was attacking the cup, collapsing defenses, and racking up assists.
But he hasn’t been playing that way since, and it looks like Boylan has finally lost his patience.

for a week, a couple weeks ago. Not like they were looking good before that.
Brandon Jennings is by far the most negative impact player on that roster.

Brandon Jennings more than doubles anyone on his team for the season at……

    Second worst is a -71.

I don’t really get Jennings logic here. He’s said in the past that he deserves to be an all-star, a max player, etc yet here he says “I don’t see any all-stars in this locker room, so I think everybody should be held accountable” and that he shouldn’t be “put on a pedestal” and wants instead to be treated “like anybody else”. Can’t have it both ways, son. Can’t be calling yourself a max guy one min and then saying nah, I’m just another cat on the team.

Bottomline: act the part, be the part. You want max money, take max responsibility.

Anyone else sick of Jennings claiming he’s one of the best and then putting up numbers like this? This boy NEEDED college. He also needs to show up consistently so the Bucks don’t have to trade him for a quarter of what he’s worth.

    And that’s Monta right?

    nope. Marquis Daniels.
Monta has climbed from a once -77 to a -31 over the last 3 weeks. He’s been playing really well.

If he wants to be honored for his play then he needs to play consistent good basketball! there were plenty times were he played 30+ minutes an scored 10 points or so, so he needs to let his play do the talking
