Carmelo Anthony Fears Knee May Never Be 100 Percent Healthy

New York Knicks doctors can’t quite figure out what’s wrong with Carmelo Anthony’s right knee, and the star forward is worried that it will never be fully healthy again. Melo rejoined the lineup last night after missing three games, but the Golden State Warriors spanked the Knicks 92-63 (and an immobile Anthony struggled). Per the NY Daily News and Newsday: “‘Nobody can really give me an exact answer on it,’ Anthony said early Monday. ‘There’s no pain, no ligament damage or anything like that. There’s just some fluid in the back of the knee that’s preventing me from hyper-extending my knee sometimes.’ Anthony, who (returned) to the lineup after being sidelined for three games, then made a sobering admission by stating: ‘I don’t think I’ll ever be 100 percent.’ The mystery about Anthony’s right knee took another strange turn when Anthony said he hasn’t been the same since suffering a knee injury in the Christmas Day loss to the Lakers. However, in that game it was Anthony’s left knee that was hyper-extended and caused him to miss two games. Last week, it was soreness to Anthony’s right knee that prompted him to leave a game against Cleveland in the second quarter with the Knicks trailing by 22 points. [...] Anthony shot 4-for-15 and had 14 points and 10 rebounds in 33:34. Afterward, he said the knee bothered him throughout the game. ‘It was just nagging, just agitating at this point,’ he said. ‘The stiffness is still back there. It’s just a matter of time and seeing what happens over time.’ Anthony said he plans to play Wednesday night when this five-game trip continues in Denver, where he will return for the first time since forcing a trade to the Knicks in February 2011. ‘I’ll see it how it feels [Tuesday], see how it feels Wednesday,’ Anthony said. ‘As of right now, I plan to be out there.’”

No no no no…please let this not be true. Nagging injuries often turn into something more later down the line. We don’t need this now.
