Derrick Rose Expects to Be a Better Shooter When He Returns

With speculation running rampant about the return of Derrick Rose, the Chicago Bulls superstar point guard has confidence in his improved jump shot and three-pointer. Per Yahoo! Sports: “Derrick Rose’s Chicago Bulls T-shirt was drenched in sweat after a 70-plus minute pregame workout at Oracle Arena last Friday night. He looked physically strong during the exercises. ‘I’m feeling healthy, man,’ Rose said afterward. ‘That’s the only thing that matters.’ But what matters now is Rose’s mental confidence in his surgically repaired left knee, which is critical for Rose before he pushes for clearance to make his season debut. When will that be? There isn’t a target date, but Rose is ‘at the end of the tunnel’ of his rehab, according to a source. [...] Rose has not shot over 35 percent from 3-point range in his NBA career, but during his layoff he has spent time working on his 3-pointer and says he’s more confident in it now. The right-handed shooter also has been working on his left-handed runner shot. If Rose’s athleticism is close to what it was with his improved shooting, he can be even more dangerous offensively than he was before. ‘I see his improvement each and every day,’ head coach Tom Thibodeau said. ‘And as I’ve told him, we’ve waited this long and we don’t mind waiting until he is completely comfortable to play. And if that means a couple more games, five games, whatever it is. And that would be for any player, we don’t want to put someone out there that is not comfortable with being out there.’”

Scary for defenders. The Heat will have something to think about next season.

….Derrick Rose, Deron Williams, John Wall, Kyrie Irving, Rajon Rondo, Lou Williams, etc. etc……all these cats really make me appreciate the absolute abuse Allen Iverson was able to put his body through for over 10 years straight…against bigger guys, and tougher fouls, in a much smaller frame. Now please that is no knock against any of these guys because nobody chooses injury, but the pain that this cat was able to play through was immense.

Football toughness. He was one of the best athletes to step foot in the NBA. He was playing his 2nd best sport and will end up walking into the Hall of Fame easily.

  • TBRK

meaning how confident his mind is in the way his knee will perform….like will he hold our on a hard cut or jump stop because he isn’t mentally confident (different than physically confident) in his knee. Pretty much what spit hot fiyah said

Absolutely. It`s amazing that Iverson never suffered a season-ending injury during his career. Never tore his ACL or MCL. Never had to have season-ending knee surgery. As much as he hit the floor, it`s amazing that he didn`t have any concussion-related issues that forced him to miss games. Despite all the serious injuries that he did suffer, he still managed to play the majority of the games during most regular seasons. He is a different breed.
