Kevin Love Admits He May Not Return This Season

Kevin Love says his goal is to play in the final eight to 12 games of the season, and doctors will re-examine his hand in two to three weeks. But Love admitted on Friday that there’s a chance he won’t return this season. From the Star-Tribune: “Timberwolves forward Kevin Love knows the season is ticking away on him and he said before Friday’s game at Houston there’s a chance he won’t play again this season. ‘I’d say that has crossed my mind, but as far as making a decision, I haven’t made that decision yet,’ he said. Love joined the team in Houston on its two-game trip that ended Friday night against the Rockets. He learned Wednesday in a visit to his New York City hand surgeon that his right shooting hand hasn’t yet healed enough for him to play. He said he will have that hand scanned again in two to three weeks and the results will be sent to his surgeon, who will then determine if he can play the season’s final two to three weeks. Love said he still hopes —and intends — to play the season’s final eight to 12 games. ‘We’ll see what a guy like Glen says and see what D.K. and Coach says and we’ll probably all make a decision,’ Love said, referring to team owner Glen Taylor, president of basketball operations David Kahn and coach Rick Adelman. ‘At the end of the day, the decision is still mine and I’d still like to go out there and join the team. The hand is great, my body feels great. It’s going to be a big offseason. Part of coming back [yet this season], you want to give the fans something, but you also want to do something for the team and yourself. You kind of want to see what you have here when you have a full team, and we really haven’t had that yet.’”

sux for love. at least the wolves know that they have player in Derrick Williams. which probably means that they trade Williams since he finally has some trade value, if they trade him he has a good chance to flourish somewhere else

Wolves make the Playoffs next season.

  • TBRK

all because of them KG knuckle push ups…..

  • KingBenjamin

No point in returning, the Wolves suck.

  • AndyK415

    They will.

Cosign this, a 100% healthy frountcourt of Pek, AK47 and Love, plus a combination of Rubio, Shved, Ridnour and Barrea is a good core. Williams’ will have his shine on another team (trade him for a center and/or a hustle type player), Ridnour or Barrea should be traded for Shved to fully maximize his playing time. Kid’s a hell of a basketball player.

he will return and break something else. just stay home.. what a waste of season, and $13+ million in salary this season on Love. He started his season out of shape, reached on a defensive play and re-injured himself.

get rid of JJ, and Derrick has risen his trade stock, but i would like to see him stay.

I think their real core should be Rubio, Williams, Love, Pek and Shved. That’s a good lineup 1-5 right there. I’ll keep AK though.

Man for the last couple of years it seems that people keep on expecting the timberwolves to break through only to have key injurys get in there way every single time. Hoping it will be a different situation next year

  • Max

Which team do you take out of the West?

  • http://twitter.com/ec_lkhaa Will Lee

tank, might get lucky to have a high draft pick for a shooter / defensive player.

  • The Philosopher

I think OKC will make it out of the West this season.

    4 guards + 1 center = FAIL

  • The Philosopher

Hey, you may be right. Maybe, they’ll make some moves in the off – season.

  • Caboose

He means, who doesn’t make it next year who does this year?

  • The Philosopher

LAL comes out this year. As for next year, for some reason, (I do not know why) I see the Memphis Grizzlies having a major drop off. They don’t even make the Playoffs next year.
Look at me; getting myself caught up in predictions. Watch me be totally wrong…

  • http://twitter.com/NotThe2 The W

Maybe but they havent in forever so…

  • Max

That will most certainly not happen.

  • The Fury

For me, I think the Jazz or the Warriors won’t make it next year, just in case if the Wolves makes it.

  • Max

    The West is f*cking crazy.
