Lawrence Frank Calls Detroit Pistons ‘Disheartening to Watch’

After Monday night’s beatdown at the hands of the visiting Brooklyn Nets, Detroit Pistons head coach Lawrence Frank ripped his team. Per the Detroit News: “The latest, a 37-point whipping at the hands of the Brooklyn Nets, simply adds to the ledger. It is a Nets team, by the way, to whom the Pistons lost their two earlier meetings by a total of five points. Since the break: back-to-back losses to the Pacers by a total of 50 points, a 39-point loss to the San Antonio Spurs and a 32-point loss to the L.A. Clippers. ‘This is our fifth game like this since the break,’ said Pistons coach Lawrence Frank, who returned to the team after a six-game absence due to his wife’s illness. ‘As a group we stunk. This is disheartening to watch.’ [...] If they haven’t quit, it looks like high-level coasting since the All-Star break at the very least. This is a total change from the way they performed in the first half of the season. ‘We have to restore the pride of being a Piston,’ said Frank before Monday’s game. ‘We’re not gonna restore it in a day but, big picture, we have to get that pride back in wearing that jersey.’ [...] ‘We’d better (have fight left). Our intent to start the game is right and then stuff happens,’ Frank said.”

Right on point but they have too many players at one position. Are they gonna develop, Knight or trade him. Calderon and Bynum need to go.

That’s what happens when you keep drafting, trading for and signing guards. Drummond and Monroe are nice pieces though.

specially without Drummond they are very hard to watch

Drummond and Monroe are gonna be a force in the future together. What they need is a good SG/SF combo and they’ll be set for now

why is lawrence frank still a coach in the league??

dude has never even played ball

What they need is to put Drummond into the lineup as soon as he’s back in shape. Its frustrating watching him play 18 minutes a game and only logging garbage minutes.

the nba needs to find a way to expand their coaching network; im tired of the lawrence franks, the john thompsons, ,the randy whitmans, the doug collins.

They should give more opportunity to some of these FIBA/ international coaches, OR have scouts scout potential new coaches. Something, anything, just tired of hearing these names getting recycled for the past 10-15 years.

I’d keep Bynum just because he has such good chemistry with Drummond.

  • Anthony Dixon

how is he a bad coach?

  • pposse

he’s only had like 2 winning seasons. And if i remember correctly, just as much as Jason Kidd endorsed the hiring back in the NJ days, he completely hung him out to dry when he left. Either way he hasn’t done anything recently and his team will probably have a worse record than last year (last year was a shortened season!)

His coaching is as disheartening to watch as well.

Never had talent since the jkidd era. This team has too much talent at one position. Not his fault.

i dig the honesty Lawrence even if its unpopular.

Pop, Doc, SVG, Pjax, & Sloan would do the same.
