LeBron James Calls Miami’s 19-Game Winning Streak ‘Unbelievable’

The Miami Heat continue to shred the rest of the NBA, having now won 19 in a row (and just one win shy of becoming only the 5th team in League history to rip off 20 straight W’s). LeBron James knows that what they’re doing is pretty damn special. Per Fox Sports and ESPN: “He was asked if he will at least be able to appreciate the streak when he retires. Suddenly, James’ tone changed. Suddenly, he was willing to say his Heat are indeed experiencing one of the greatest runs in NBA history. ‘No, I’ll probably look back on it before then,’ James said. ‘Let’s be honest, guys, we’re not sitting here and saying this is not something special. This is an unbelievable streak that we’re on. We’re playing great basketball. We win in different phases of the game. We’re playing different syles. We’ve won every game, on the road, at home. Double overtime games. End-of-regulation games. Whatever the case may be, we’ve been able to pull games out. So I’m not going to sit here and say that it’s not special what we’re doing.’ [...] The streak has jarred the Heat into truly caring about every game — something that’s a challenge for any NBA team during this marathon season and especially the defending champs, who have the long haul at the front of their minds — and it has finally brought them to their potential. ‘You know you’re a part of history right now, but you just want to keep winning and keep it up,’ said Dwyane Wade. ‘This team is put together to win championships, that’s what we’re measured by and that’s what we measure ourselves by … but this is a special time.’”

Man they get a lot of help from the refs.

Regardless, it’s still pretty crazy, that’s winning 1/4 of the season straight haha which when you put it that way seems unbelievable.

  • Anthony Dixon

    yea i guess.

  • pposse

im really starting to think this team has a legit shot at a 70 win season next year.

  • spit hot fiyah

the craziest thing is that if they don’t lose again all season they still end up 5 games behind chicago’s record

Lebron is shooting the lowest fta (only 6.9 fta per game) since his rookie year. and is it the refs fault that wow and lebron keeps getting hacked a la dwight. keep that nonsense to yourself dixon.

  • Anthony Dixon

stats can be deceiving MUBWAR. I watch there games and i see referees blow the whistle after he and his partner cry out loud. Those 6.9 fta were crucial in some games.

i know they were crucial anthony, but compared to the 10.5 and 10.8 fta he was averaging a couple years ago. it’s a bargain. looks like the refs said f##k it. he is too big to get fouled that easily

  • Anthony Dixon

but its not just the fouls on him i’m talking about. TO me, especially in that games against Orlando, the refs missed some calls in favor of the Magic.

  • KevinJohnsonFan

Every star/superstar gets calls especially when they are slashers like LeBron and Wade are. Nothing different here.

holy crap you’re right. Thats a quarter of the season lol. Some teams in the past few years havent gotten this many wins all year!

    Manufacturing legacy.

thats just how special that team was man. crazy..

  • bike

I think the addition of Birdman might be what’s putting the Heat over the top. He’s just what the doc ordered; big, hustle, garbage minute guy who leaves nothing on the floor.

  • AndyK415

I totally agree, especially against the sub .500 teams. But it’s still impressive.

what’a cop out that is. — yep, they won 19 straight games because of refs. let’s not appreciate seeing great things, let’s devalue them. When LeBron went for his run of 30 points on 60%, that was the refs too. Calling a foul every time they thought he may miss or something.
and the Lakers getting back in the playoffs? All help from the refs.
oh, and the Bulls winning a single game without Derrick Rose? All refs too.
    Refs get buckets.

  • Max

Memphis could have a nice little streak going if they would’ve beat the heat.

  • shockexchange

King James’ mastery of “The LeBron Rules … Keys to Stopping LeBron James” is unbelievable. As long as he doesn’t get sidetracked tryna get at Billy Hunter, or entering the slam dunk contest, he should be okay.

  • Redd

Clippers had 19 too I think.

  • LakeShow

Their playing style makes the refs give them allot of help.

  • The Philosopher

    The King…
    And his men.

  • j

    u mean 68

  • pposse

naw im talkin about next season, but yeah 68 for this one, thatll be crazy if they dont lose ever again this year

  • RedDragon10

That was a 17 game winning streak. Which is still incredible.

  • Mathematicaster

what record? Serious question- not trolling

  • Comment_System

most wins in a season im guessing

  • Comment_System

not saying youre right or anything (youre not), but that game against the raptors was indeed helped by the refs (even the heat kind of admitted to it)

  • Redd

I think it went past 17, idk I’ll check.

  • Redd

Yep 17 you’re right, my bed.

  • LP

    So young….man….

  • LP

The refs did help them out that one game….That streak def would have stopped…thats just one game tho…

  • RedDragon10

    72-10 league record

  • Anthony Dixon

no they get paid in the backroom.. nice stats tho… you should write an essay.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

yes, they get paid 6 figures to be impartial.

the last guy who wasn’t, is famous now.

the games aren’t fixed. the refs aren’t helping any one team over another, unless you want to just complain about home teams? but that’s not what you are doing. you are being an idiot because you don’t like who is winning when they win. if your hometown team won, whoever that may be, you wouldn’t say a DAMN thing. Go to sleep.

  • KevinJohnsonFan

Conspiracies…nevermind the fact that basically, 2006 Dwyane Wade is playing with LeBron James who is the best player in the world and they’re surrounded by one of the best 3 point shooters in the history of basketball along with more good shooters. They’re getting back to where they can be defensively. And now a tough Birdman is on the roster. But no, it’s the refs who are responsible for this winning streak. Right. Have you been in the backroom where they get paid?

  • Mike From Spain

If you make a ranking of FTAs per game, the Timberwolves are in the top 5 I think… and look where they stand

  • JLee

yeah it’s true internet really messes up lots of people.
go back to bed, get some sleep, watch some heat games and come back.

  • Anthony Dixon

    lol okay nbk

  • Anthony Dixon

never said they were responsible, just said they get help lol.

  • roscoe

driving in the paint draws fouls… dwade is at a super high level right now.
