Miami Heat Have Won a Franchise Record 15 Straight Games

The Minnesota Timberwolves couldn’t halt the League’s hottest team, and fell 97-81 to the Miami Heat. The defending NBA champions have slapped together a franchise-best 15 consecutive wins. From the Miami Herald: “Every game is different and this was a tough one mentally that we had to fight through,’ said Dwyane Wade, who scored a game-high 32 points. ‘We had a lot of turnovers but we were playing well. If we didn’t turn the ball over, we would have played almost a perfect game. We shot the ball well, moved it well.’ The Heat has a few signature wins during this 15-game run — although Minnesota won’t be included in that group. The banged-up Timberwolves have lost six in a row and are 6-24 since New Year’s Day. Miami, meanwhile, holds a seven-game lead over Indiana for the top seed in the Eastern Conference as the Heat followed up Sunday’s win in New York by easing past Minnesota. ‘This was about finding a way to get the win — no matter how,’ coach Erik Spoelstra said. ‘We were very careless offensively but at the end of the day we got the win. Now, lets get out of here.’ A night after winning in New York, Miami played sloppy at times as its season-high 23 turnovers helped keep the Wolves in the game. [...] Miami outscored Minnesota 26-13 in the final 10 minutes. Allen’s three-pointer at the three minute mark to give Miami its biggest lead of the night at 18. ‘We didn’t play good basketball but got stops when we needed to,’said LeBron James, who started Monday’s game despite concern about his left knee, which he tweaked Sunday in New York. ‘It was a good win. Offensively we’re moving the ball, sharing the ball.’ The Heat, which hoped to escape snowy Minneapolis late Monday night, will try to extend its winning streak Wednesday against Orlando in Miami.”

THEY COULD WIN MORE IF THEY HAD RILEY INSTEAD OF SPO

  • spit hot fiyah

speaking of the timberwolves, Derrick Williams has been playing very well lately. 14 and 8 in february

  • Max

    LMAO look at Bosh.

  • The Philosopher

    Happy for the kid…
Was worried about him for a minute.
    Encouraging.

  • speedy

What’s the base of your opinion?
They could win more, but their is nothing that justifies your opinion.

  • danpowers

with three and a half hall of famers on the team. what a suprise

  • KevinJohnsonFan

Meaning? They’ve won the past 15 games. They can only win the games they play. What are you saying? The man just coached them to a championship last season and they’re the best team in the league right now.

  • RKJ92

Meaning Riley’s a better coach then Spo, what are you f*cking retarded? It looked pretty logical to me, LOL who is this guy??

  • RKJ92

Let me sum that up for you.. L-e-B-r-o-n J-a-m-e-s

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

We all under estimated Erik Spoelstra. All of us. Especially Eboy. I hope you are reading this Cliff.

  • Redd

Why does a franchise record matter..? Stupid article in my opinion as a header.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Spoelstra really is a great coach. He’s extremely underrated if people don’t recognize this by now.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Spoelstra is the one who figured out how to use him appropriately.

  • justin

Dwayne wade has been killing it to lebron ain’t doing it by his self an spo is a really good coach they couldnt b that much better with Riley

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

he has been really really really good over his last 5 games. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/willide02/gamelog/2013/#115-119-sum:pgl_basic —> the Kevin Love injury has been a god send for him. Well that, and that Rubio fella.

  • KevinJohnsonFan

    Thank you.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

they couldn’t be any better with Riley. They just won the title. There is no better than winning lol.

  • RKJ92

No but I’m not arguing that, I am saying he’s no Pat Riley though :)

  • RKJ92

    Crushing them perhaps? lol

  • RKJ92

It’s not a matter of being that much better or not, Riley is the better coach hands down, case closed that is my only point.

  • http://twitter.com/whitehoteboy CCT

Yeah, I am, and while Spo has grown, he’s still a below average in game coach and has trouble adapting gameplans mid-game. him and his staff are among the best prepared from game to game, but he still get’s overwhelmed in the moment at times. It helps that Lebron is playing on some next level shit when things bog down.

I’d give him an 8 out of 10 right now.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

but how would Riley improve the team? By winning the title even better? lol. i think Spoelstra is pretty much as good as it gets for this Heat team. He understands his guys. Has a ton of trust. And (this is the thing i thought he didn’t have) has the ability to innovate and mold his system to fit his players.
    .
basically, as a coach, Spoelstra has the same positives Riley had. Except he’s better at the relationship part, while Riley was better at the discipline part. But neither are bad at either thing.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    they did that tho.

  • RKJ92

Kindaaa.. when I think crushing I think of like Bulls from back in the day doing their playoff run going 4-0 idk that kind of deal, could be diff from both our views though maybe?

  • RKJ92

but do you or don’t you think Riley is the better coach?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

that’s fair. i do think Miami will pretty much do that this year. Until the finals that is. Which is kind of how the Bulls were. Except in 96.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

oh Riley is definitely the better coach. i just don’t think for the Heat right now, he would make much of a difference. if any.

  • RKJ92

That was my only point lol, and I rest my case.. time to go get a coffee, and a sub for lunch now haha

  • RKJ92

Ya I agree, but anyways like I said uptop I’m headed to subway, then psychology class peace!

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

it seemed like your point was that Riley would help the Heat win more than Spoelstra does. Considering you asked homie if he was retarded for asking a question that infers the same exact thing that i just said. if you were just trying to make the point i just said, then you were a dick to that dude for no reason.

  • RKJ92

Blah man your gonna ruin my lunch nbk, lol let me eat in peaceee we will argue another time I got like 7 min.. I will briefly type Riley > Spo — In time Riley would figure out the gel just like Spo had (ample time at that) ergo –> Heat with Riley better team (this is my own view, and it seems quite straightforward). We will argue another time though class now!

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

your responses contradict each other. that’s all i’m saying.

  • Reedo

What does that mean there is a team on the west coast with 4 of famers that can barely stay above 500..

  • speedy

Riley was a better coach, didn’t coach for years now. NBA changed a lot and right now I don’t see how coaching could improve in this case.
We will never see this team under Riley and right now they have a 44-14 record and won 15 straight and Spoelstra is the coach.
No I’m not retarded, but you seem kind of crazy to me going off like that when I ask, how Zogs justifies his opinion.

  • roscoe

And CHA has a 7 game losing streak going!

    Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

  • speedy

Retarded??? You are some little desktop rambo.
Didn’t write anywhere who is better.

  • 23

There is always room for improvement imo. ALWAYS.

  • 23

I guess you’re used to teams winning 15 games in a row already. Sorry some of us see that as newsworthy.

  • 23

    What about LAL?

  • speedy

    Magic, Kareem, Worthy, Byron.
Not to bad to win a championship too.
It’s always about great players and great coaches. There will be no chip if one of the things is missing.
It’s not that easy to calculate, if it was Cleveland would have some chips now.

  • speedy

He has the bigger achievements, but you still didn’t bring up a point, that substantiates your point, that he would be the better coach right now.

  • http://twitter.com/conorklnohara Ó hEaghra

    It’s called “injuries”, revisionist.

  • LakeShow

There is 1 that has played at a hall of fame level is the problem.
Did you really not know this?

  • danpowers

    revisionist, lol

  • danpowers

age, injuries, system change. sh*t happens lol

  • Matt

I doubt that you guys remember my posts from a year or so ago, but I’ve always said that Spoelstra will grow as a coach. You can always learn X’s and O’s, but innovativeness and creativity in defensive and offensive schemes is something that the talented, both of which the Heat coaching lineup have. All in all, Spo is definitely being massively helped by the talent on his team, but he’s worked his offense around to suit his personnel well.

  • Matt

No, it’s a lack of coaching and terrible front office decision-making. The offense would have easily become a top five offense over the course of the season. The front office should have retained Mike Brown in order to let him implement and rework his defensive schemes.

  • Matt

Riley definitely gives advice to Spo. They both coach very similarly, in terms of philosophy (ever heard of the Riley Way?).

  • Redd

Where was that Clippers article at 17?
