NC State Point Guard Lorenzo Brown to Enter NBA Draft

NC State junior Lorenzo Brown, who posted averages of 12.4 points and an ACC-best 7.2 assists per game this season, will forgo his year with the Wolfpack and enter the NBA Draft. A 6-5 combo guard, Brown has an explosive dribble-drive game and will be tough to replace in Raleigh. Via ESPN.com: “‘I just kind of figured it was my time to leave and just step up to something new,’ Brown said. Coach Mark Gottfried says he spoke with representatives of about 15 to 20 NBA teams and believes that Brown can be a first-round pick. He pointed out that Brown has only played the point for the past two years after bouncing between the point and the off-guard positions during his freshman year under Sidney Lowe. ‘I think guys like the fact that they would potentially get a player that’s kind of on the front end of all the growth that may happen for him,’ Gottfried said. ‘I know there’s a lot of teams that like him a lot. … I think he’s going to have a good future.’ His departure wasn’t a huge surprise considering Brown and junior C.J. Leslie were both mentioned as likely candidates to jump to the NBA all season.”

good size for a point guard, i think it will hurt him and Leslie that the team had such an underwhelming season after all the high pre.season expectations.

Definitely got the tools to succeed as far as talent. Not sure if he has the maturity and composure to be a starting caliber lead guard right away though. NC State seriously disappointed this season. A true leader would have been able to right the ship.

It will a little bit, but what is going to hurt him and C.J. the most is that neither of them are really good basketball players. Lorenzo is better than C.J. (he’s horrible, skill-wise), but he’s still not ready. After all, he’s not going to the NBA because he is ready to play in the NBA, they are all about to jump ship b/c N.C. State is and has been a train wreck for the past 30 years and the longer they stay the worse their chances of playing pro get. That’s the truth brother, from an imbedded reporter!
