Q+A: OJ Mayo (VIDEO)

The Mavs guard chats with SLAMonline about his first season in Dallas.

A lot has changed since Dallas won the franchise’s first title in 2011. During that same postseason, OJ Mayo, then with Memphis, helped secure the Grizzlies’ first Playoff game and series wins in franchise history.

The Mavs’ roster has largely transformed since the title run, as their streak of 12 straight Playoff appearances is currently on the line. While the team has dealt with injuries and difficulties integrating new additions during an up-and-down season, the positive has been the re-emergence of shooting guard OJ Mayo.

Mayo has started every game for Dallas, averaging 16.8 points on a career-high 46.3 percent from the field, and 41.8 percent from three. He is thriving in a more fluid offense, averaging a career-best 4.3 assists and acting as facilitator with more time playing with the ball in his hands.

The Mavs have won seven of their last 10 games, and the team is entering a stretch of six straight home games. After Monday’s road win against the Hawks, Mayo spoke with SLAMonline about his first season in Dallas.
