Stephen Curry Calls Golden State Warriors’ Sleeved Jerseys ‘Ugly’

According to noted fashion critic and frustrated basketball player Stephen Curry, the hideous sleeved jerseys that the Golden State Warriors have begun to wear are indeed just that. Per USA Today: “Is Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry concerned after his Cinderella team continued to flirt with pumpkin status on Friday night in what has become a tightly-contested Western Conference playoff race? ‘That’s probably a better question to ask me after Sunday because it’s a big game for us,’ Curry, whose Warriors (37-30) trailed by as many as 36 points in a 113-95 loss to the Chicago Bulls at Oracle Arena, said regarding Golden State’s upcoming game at the seventh-place Houston Rockets (36-30). ‘If we don’t come to play, don’t show up that game, it’s going to be a different feeling because that’s how real that chase becomes at that point. It’s a big game for us.’ As Curry noted several times, every game is big from here on out. For the Warriors, who have lost 13 of their last 20 games after a marvelous 30-17 start and are now only three games better than the ninth-place Utah Jazz, the pressure is an everyday reality. Their security blanket is no more, this favorable schedule down the home stretch — emphasis on ‘home’ — that had seemed to seal the deal on their playoff fate. [...] ‘You’re on national TV, NBATV (the game was not nationally televised), wearing our ugly jerseys,’ said Curry, who had just eight points on 2 of 13 shooting and didn’t hit a three-pointer for the first time in 54 games. ‘I shouldn’t have said that (about the jerseys), but it’s just one of those things where there’s a lot of attention on us and we don’t show up to play. And we just come up short. We want to give our fans a show. We want to give them something to cheer about and make it fun for them to come to the game. When they’re leaving with six or seven minutes left, that’s not a good night.’”

those jersies are really nice, compared to the shorts

  • Max

The shorts by themselves are not that bad. It’s the whole not matching outfit that’s wrong.

Finally, mad it took this long.

As an OG Ws fan I kinda sorta like them but if your best player dont like em and plays poorly (by his own standard) in em you gotta shelve that! Never mind they dont even match the shorts HA! The last ownership messed it up on his way out, we had a solid theme going. Now they just tryna do something unique but I miss the jerseys with the lightning bolts on the side now we repping bridges SMH.

If you are leaving 7-8 minutes before the end, you are not a true fan.

hmmm i dont know. call me superficial but to me these sleeved jerseys dont have any flair or style and the players look like soccer plaayers. they appear skinnier than they actually are. doesnt really suit the sport….

  • w mitbrodt

Miami Heat fans arrive 7-8 mins late and leave 7-8 mins early.

  • Max

Oh I know, they’re ugy as doodoo, just saying if you just wear the shorts, they’re not that bad.

  • danpowers

    misread that, sry

The jerseys aren’t that bad, they just don’t fit all the players well. I bet some of the more ripped and/or muscular guys would look great. They didn’t look too bad on Harrison Barnes, but they look terrible on David Lee who’s a little chubby and Steph Curry who’s got the muscle definition of noodles. They’d probably make guys like Blake Griffin, LeBron, Howard, Wade, Kobe, Westbrook and the like look great. They’d look pretty unflattering on anyone who doesn’t have a 6 pack.

  • pat

those jerseys are a hindrance in my opinion because they make the players body temperature a bit warmer than regular jersies

    Justice is finally served!

yeah but that’s because they’re just shorts, its hard to make shorts look ugly the way you can make a jersey look ugly

  • Drig

Soccer kits look MUCH MUCH better.

  • Max

I even think they’d be better for the Pacers lol.

I wish they would just redo the city jerseys and replace the city with the bay

  • http://twitter.com/NotThe2 The W

That would be cool but them 03 jerseys with the lightning bolt def the most unique inthe leauge. I vote for those but I wouldnt be mad at your idea at all
