Amar’e Stoudemire spoke to reporters before Tuesday night’s Celtics-Knicks game, his first time doing so since undergoing surgery on his right knee in early March. Stoudemire said that his recovery is going well and that he’s aiming to return to the court in the second round, if the Knicks advance. He did add, however, that he hasn’t begun practicing at full speed yet.

“Everything’s on schedule for the most part,” Stoudemire said. “I’ve got to continue to get stronger, got to get back on the court, start moving around at full speed sooner or later. I’m not sure exactly when.”

Stoudemire said he was aiming to start doing so by the end of this week.

“It’s really precautionary measures,” he said, “just taking our time and figuring out exactly how it reacts to a hard load or a hard workout. And if I can handle that then we go up a notch, that’s great. Then I’m looking for hopefully playing soon. We’ll see.”
