Anthony Davis is Obsessed With Eating Pizza

6-foot-11, 220-pound rookie big man Anthony Davis wants to bulk up, and he wants the process to be delicious. Ergo, he eats a ton of pizza. Despite the young fella’s fascination with the fatty deep-dish, though, it’s not working. Not yet, anyway. Per Yahoo! Sports: “New Orleans offers some of the world’s most renowned restaurants like Emeril’s, Commander’s Palace and Herbsaint. So what dish has Hornets rookie Anthony Davis fallen in love with since arriving to the Crescent City? Pizza. Specifically from the city’s Reginelli’s Pizzeria chain restaurant, where his pie of choice is a large with double pepperoni and double sausage. ‘He eats pizza, man. It’s like if anyone says, ‘P … I’ and then, ‘Pizza,’ he perks up,’ Hornets coach Monty Williams said. ‘This dude has this fascination with pizza. It’s unreal.’ Despite the calories and carbohydrates acquired with each meat lover’s slice, Davis, a slender 6-foot-11, 220-pounder, has not gained much weight since being drafted No. 1 overall last year. Davis says his high metabolism is keeping him from picking up pounds. Hornets coach Monty Williams believes the 20-year-old is improving as a player, but says he will be better with more muscle. [...] The ideal weight for Davis is debatable among the Hornets. They don’t want him to add more than 20 pounds, fearful it could lead to back and knees injuries. Williams would like Davis to have a svelte and strong body similar to Blazers forward-center LaMarcus Aldridge, who is 6-11 and 255 pounds. An extra 15 pounds of muscle, including around seven in the upcoming offseason, is Williams’ target for Davis. [...] ‘[Aldridge] is a great example,’ Davis said. ‘L.A. came in looking like me, Dwight [Howard] came in looking like me, Kevin Durant, and they are all doing well in the league.’ … ‘You definitely don’t want to get too strong,’ Davis said. ‘You don’t want to get too big where you are not able to still do the things you do. You don’t want to change your game at all because that’s what got you there. You just want to be able to hold your own on the court.’”

pizza is unhealthy per the primal diet..which is the fast growing diet over the last 2 years…diet does not advocate eating bread

  • Caboose

Arguably the least effective diet today.

Ah to be young and eat whatever and whenever you wanted. Take advantage young fella because it’s not like that forever :/

lol at these diets that cut out the staple of the Human diet for the last 2,000 years. whether i’m right or wrong, i will never understand completely cutting out grain.

Co-Sign. Big wheat fan here lol.

  • davidR

me neither. gotta have those grains! but i know a lot of people go on the paleo to avoid processed and engineered foods/ingredients as much as possible

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk
  • Caboose

Honestly, grain takes so many forms. Example: I have very mild celiac disease so I avoid wheat whenever possible, but I still get those whole grains (rice, mostly).

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Right, but even rice is too be avoided in that diet isn’t it?

Obesity, Cardiovascular disease, Type 2 Diabetes, Cancer, Osteoporosis Acne, Gout….all diseases that did not exist before agriculture.
Gluten is BAD for you, no ifs ands or buts.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

most rice doesn’t have gluten in it, so it shouldn’t affect those with celiac

Before agriculture lol. I realize much of it didn’t exist, but there is more to it then just eating grains. .
Life expectancy was 40 years. Even now, cancer before the age of 40 is extremely rare. .
Doctor’s didn’t exist to diagnose things. People got sick and died. That’s how complex that was. .
Obesity didn’t exist because if you were lazy….you died.

  • Caboose

I think he meant in Paleo eating. And no, rice isn’t allowed in that diet.

  • Caboose

Lol, CANCER didn’t exist before agriculture? Cancer has existed since roughly the evolution of eukaryotes. So….1.6 billion years ago?

  • Caboose

Yeah, rice isn’t part of paleo eating.
Includes: fish, pasture meats, eggs, vegetables, fruits, fungi, nuts, roots
Excludes: all grains, legumes, dairy, potatoes, refined anything, processed oils

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

he named diseases that typically don’t even affect people today until after life expectancy ended back then.

and what most cats dont understand, 65% of your diet MUST be fruit and veg on the paleo diet by weight. You know most people would be 80-90% meat which is reeeally unhealthy for you.

Truth be told, cancer in on the SHARP rise wherever there is high meat consumption. Societies/communities with plant-based diets and those that eat legumes, in fact live far longer with lower instances of all kinds of cancers, diseases and depression/anxiety. Look at the China Study and Blue Zones.

Also I do not subscribe to the ‘caveman’ thing. Maybe in the cold northern winter, but mankind originated in the tropics. Lots of fresh mangoes and raw food abound. No need to hunt or chase or waste that valuable energy. We were sitting around singing songs to the Creator.

  • Caboose

….-raises hand- I had a chicken sandwich for lunch. It was good….

  • jaycee

the problem is the type of wheat that is in 99% of food today, is not the same kind of wheat we have been eating for 2000 years. Hence so many have an intolerance.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

you are going to the Air Force? you puttin music on hold?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

the word you are looking for is “processed”

  • LakeShow

    F*cking A…

  • LakeShow

lulz, was it at least spicy??

  • Caboose

Kinda. It was a french roll bun, iceberg lettuce, crispy chicken, and red pepper aioli. REALLY GOOD though.

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/savagemuzicgroup T-Ray

    Put yo hand down!

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/savagemuzicgroup T-Ray

Yea man getting processed as we speak. The music is still rolling out man album is slated for June 10th so I’m gonna release it before I leave. All the profit from sales will be automatically wired to an account. So I’ll have it when I graduate BMT.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

well you are a smart kid. Good luck to you man. That’s really awesome.

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/savagemuzicgroup T-Ray

Thanks man. So if I’m MIA from Twitter again that’s why lol

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

haha i expect you to be, knowing this.

  • jaycee

not just processed or refined, actual different species altogether. Im sure youre aware of the dangers of GM food. GM wheat/corn/soy have all been processed into ‘numbers’ meaning they dont have to be labelled.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

right, and the durability of the seeds makes it extremely hard to prevent GMO’s from infecting entire crop fields.

  • jaycee

Then you got monsanto trying to pass that bill last year (which made it to the table) which outlawed backyard gardens, farmers markets and saving your own seeds would have become a criminal offence.

BAYER are one of the big pharmas, they already made trillions, and they are also HEAVILY invested and directly involved in the GM food game and also supply most of the worlds pesticides for food etc. Sounds like a recipe for pure profit.

People are also under the illusion it is costly to eat healthy. Go to your local indian or arab grocer, get some dried lentils and brown rice and spices. Feed your whole family for $1!

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

they are never going to be able to outlaw people from providing for themselves. don’t stress. it made it to the table because money pushed it there. but it would never make it to law.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

okay okay okay, all I know is that PERSONALLY, when I eat grains I feel slower/sluggish…..especially before physical activity. Plus it makes ya fat.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

oops, I thought we were talking about strictly gluten free diets because you mentioned celiac. BTW, how did you get diagnosed for celiac? I’m curious.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

lol it’s not that you are wrong. it’s just that your point is more fallacy then fact. — really, the grains we eat now aren’t healthy for us. But that has to do with the processing of the grain, which strips it of many of its nutrients.
    .
(for the record, i could be misunderstanding the difference between modern grain, and “ancient” grain, but that’s how it is what i’ve gotten out of my studies)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

    douches? how so?

  • MikeC.

I didn’t put much stock in the “Gluten is bad for You” theory until my wife went gluten free. Her gluten free gluteus made me a believer.

  • Caboose
  • jaycee

    hope so!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

no, I’m pretty sure you are right. The process they have now is worse than in the past. Even though the government says you need however many servings of grain a day, you really don’t.

  • LakeShow

They are for freedom of information… just so long as long as it fully fits their agenda.

Look into the Graham Hancock, and Rupert Sheldrake TED controversy.

They also ask a crap ton out of their speakers in return for allowing them to… make a TED talk. They want you to do several (free) appearances and be available for virtually whatever they deem they need from you.

Don’t get me wrong, TED has some great vids.
