Carmelo Anthony Overtakes LeBron James for Highest-Selling Jersey

For the first time ever, a New York Knick has the League’s hottest jersey. Carmelo Anthony took over the top spot, pushing LeBron James down to number two in NBA jersey sales this season. Per the press release: “Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks claimed the No. 1 spot on the NBA’s top-selling jerseys list, and the Knicks remain the top-selling team since the beginning of the 2012-13 season. Anthony is the first Knicks player to lead the jersey rankings since the list was first released in the 2001-02 season. The rankings are based on combined sales at the NBA Store on Fifth Avenue and NBAStore.com from November 2012 to present. Anthony, a six-time NBA All-Star, rose from No. 4 to take the No. 1 spot from reigning NBA and Finals MVP LeBron James of the Miami Heat, who slipped to No. 2. While this marks Anthony’s debut in the No.1 spot, James’ jersey has topped the list four times, and the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant (No.4) has held the position seven times. The Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant slipped one spot to No. 3. Rounding out the top five is the Chicago Bulls’ Derrick Rose (No. 5). The Knicks have maintained their position as the best-selling team since they first topped the Bulls at the start of the 2012-13 season. The reigning champion Heat are at No. 2, followed by the Lakers at No. 3, the Brooklyn Nets at No. 4, and the Bulls at No. 5.”

I wish they increased the supply of player shirts… they’re way cheaper than jerseys and easier to wear. You can’t buy a single f*cking player shirt for any athlete on a New York team unless you’re XXXXXXS or XXXXXXL.

Would have expected the Nets to be higher considering they’re a brand new team pretty much with brand new, entirely different jerseys.

If you weren’t with us when Isiah was around, we don’t want you.

I’m more alarmed that people (other than kids) still wear jerseys as part of their fashion ensemble in 2013. I thought that trend died out back when Fabolous was wearing backwards Jason Kidd jerseys.

At least Knicks can claim winning something this year…

  • danpowers

    …besides the division you mean?

  • danpowers

  • robb

Slam could you do something about these ^^^^^spammers please?

  • roscoe

personally i don’t wear jerseys but if someone has a passion it is always cool to embrace it.

jerseys for fans is a way to show passion.

    don’t be a hater.

I would consider purchasing a jersey if they were not so damn long. I got a Lebron jersey back in mid 2000s where the length was perfect, why can’t they be like that, I mean they are replicates damnit!

True. I will admit to being a hater in this case.

I had a phase of oversized jerseys myself, so I really don’t like the look after having grown out of it, but to each their own,

  • Juah

well for damn sure aint gonna be a championship

  • nhm

player shirts are cool. jerseys may be harder to wear everywhere, but it’s always good to show support for your team.

What does age style or trend have to do with liking or wearing jerseys if that’s your thing do it

  • danpowers

pretty much looks like the heat will repeat. fans r allowed to dream tho. we as knicks fans will be proud even if they wont go all the way. its nice to have a good team after all those horrible years.

winning a division in the nba is more than any of us more or less ordinary people and not so popular athletes in here so id pay respect to my team doing that anyway. especially as a baller i know how big the performance by any nba athlete is and when a team comes together in a way the knicks did so far, thats enough to cheer for and have a feel good season as a fan.

  • roscoe

    right on

Turns out, today’s long jerseys appeal to plumbers since they are ideal for preventing plumber’s butt.

Kudos to Melo, but this is more an indication of NYers bandwagon mentality than his increased popularity.

At 31 you should be able to buy and where what you like instead of worrying about what the current trends are.

  • deo

i would purchase a jersey but the its too damn long! i aint paying a tailor to have them
cut..to the nba im only 5’9 most of people i know are average height can we please produce a jersey that fits regular people? SMH. another note those jersey shirts might be

I don’t think many grown folk wear jerseys when they go out other than to a game or other associated sporting event. I like to sport a jersey when I go to a game.

I’m surprised to see Melo, even with the fantastic season he’s having, overtaking LeBron. This is a huge upset. I’m curious to see if he can do the same in the international market as soon as the jersey sales’ list in Europe and China is released in the following weeks. I’m also a bit surprised to see Rose in the top 5 despite not playing and Chris Paul “only” 9th.

It’s also good to see fans taking notice of Kyrie Irving. Give him 1-2 more years and he’s gonna be a fixture in the top 10 (if not top 5). As far as teams sales, no surprises there, aside maybe Philadelphia making the top 10, but then again, they came just 1 game short of making the conference finals last year and got Bynum so probably many fans bought his jersey even before knowing he would’ve not played one single minute.

Jerseys are perfect for those crazy hot days when the ol’ wife-beater isn’t classy enough.

If you think Francisco`s story is something…, four weeks ago my aunts boyfriend also got a cheque for $6737 sitting there a sixteen hour week an their house and their roomates aunt`s neighbour has done this for three months and earnt more than $6737 in their spare time at there pc. the information from this site, Big31.com

Dan, you’re on the verge of a solid run of “age appropriate” jerseys. 32 gets you Magic (I hate LAL, but props to Magic), 33 gets you Ewing, 34 gets you Oakley. Solid run there man. Just finished my run. Wife got me the Oakley authentic. 90′s style. No shoulders, no weird stripes.

  • Mack

Lmao oh here come the bandwagoners. Gotta love em…

  • danpowers

lol good one. when im thru with the knicks greats im looking forward to get the kemp 40 and finally the rodman 91

  • danpowers

excuse me sir but are you out of your mind? how the hell on earth could a wife beater possibly ever be not classy enough?!

Cause Melo is the man. Go Knicks! http://tinyurl.com/GoingtotheKnicksGame

  • J Nasty

I honestly feel like Carmelo bought a ton of jerseys himself just so he can say he is the most popular
