Carmelo Anthony Wants People to Stop Rushing Derrick Rose Back

If it were up to Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose wouldn’t return this season. Anthony fails to see the point of rushing the Chicago Bulls superstar back to the court. Per the Chicago Tribune: “The only timeline the Bulls have given regarding Derrick Rose’s return is eight to 12 months. That means, given the surgery took place May 12, missing the 2012-13 season always was a possibility. Now that Rose sitting out all season is all but a certainty, the Bulls and Rose have drawn some criticism. Asked in light of that whether the Bulls should have just declared Rose out for the season last fall, coach Tom Thibodeau shrugged. ‘They were just being forthright,’ Thibodeau said of management and team physician Brian Cole. ‘That’s what everyone thought. We didn’t know, and we still don’t know. We were just being honest. Obviously, you can look back and say that now, but we never felt that way. We knew it was the type of injury that takes time, so you just want to do what you feel is right. We feel like we’ve done that.’ Rose was cleared for full scrimmaging on Feb. 18. He has practiced well but has given no signs of playing in games. [...] Knicks star Carmelo Anthony told reporters at the morning shootaround to ‘stop rushing Derrick back.’ … ‘What’s two more months going to do?’ Anthony said. ‘I don’t think he should come back, and that’s just my opinion.’”

Now someone needs to ask Rose what his opinion is of Anthony’s opinion of him not coming back this season.

  • j

also i feel like we really need to ja rule’s input on this. wheres ja rule?!

“We got Ja Rule on the phone lets see what Ja’s thoughts are on this horrible tragedy.”

we all miss rose style of play.

  • Ugh

“I totally think our conference rivals in the play-offs should not bring back their best player. It’s in his best interests that they play us without him. Definitely.”

  • Perry the PlatyPteranodon

Then someone needs to ask what Waka Flocka’s opinion is of Rose’s opinion is of Anthony’s opinion of Rose’s opinion of Waka’s opinion of him not coming back this season.

uhm… chicago would need to pass miami to meet the knicks in the playoffs. dude…

  • danpowers

id love to see a new episode of that embarassing adidas documentary about his recovery lol

  • KevinJohnsonFan

How was that documentary embarrassing? His fans loved it. Only those who either don’t like the Bulls or just feel like having an issue with it didn’t like it.

  • danpowers

i like rose but i hate this way to glofiry somebody of something. sorry man but only people with a state of mind of a 14 year old get high on mtv-nesk sh*t like that

  • KevinJohnsonFan

How was it glorifying him? It’s really not that deep. One of the ten best players in the league has a major injury and surgery…there was a lot of interest in how he would recover. It was just something that would keep his fans up to date on how he was doing. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been able to keep up with him. He is Adidas’ biggest star. The whole city of Chicago along with his fans in other places wanted to keep up with him. If Carmelo tore his ACL tomorrow, I’m sure Jordan Brand or Melo himself would find a way to keep his fans updated on him like Adidas did with Rose.

  • danpowers

cbs nba injury report does it too

  • KevinJohnsonFan

Right. Because the kind of hardcore fans that a player/personality like D-Rose has would be cool with just words on a screen or a little update here and there on a sports show rather than actually seeing video of how he’s doing. You’re lost here.

  • danpowers

its just that ive never seen anything like that about another player. hes not the first returning from an acl tear and a factual report every once in a while does it too. that adidas stuff was a little too much for my taste.

  • KevinJohnsonFan

When’s the last time a player the caliber of Rose had a major injury like that? A player with almost the entire city on his back. His team made the Conference Finals the season before and he won a well-deserved MVP award. Imagine LeBron tearing his ACL while he was in Cleveland, do you honestly believe the only updates people would have gotten is from SportsCenter every once in a while? Like I said, if it was Melo, the same kind of thing would have been done.

  • danpowers

i didnt say that its rose’s fault. i wouldnt like that sh*t if it was melo’s show neither.

i think STATs injury history when he was in phoenix is comparable to that. larry johnson when he was a hornet, too. chris webber, too. grant hill, too. penny hardaway, too. gilbert arenas, too.
no, these guys didnt win mvps but yes, they were the same calliber back then. if we go back further it wont be comparable coz we didnt have the same media coverage. lets just hope that rose returns “better” than most of these guys.

  • Ugh

Not as much as we miss the possessive.

  • Ugh

    *eyeroll*
