LeBron James Says Opponents Don’t Respect the Miami Heat Enough

This will not end well for Brandon Jennings and the Milwaukee Bucks, even if he claimed he was just kidding about his team dethroning the defending champs in six games. Chris Bosh says Jennings and the Bucks now have the Miami Heat’s undivided attention, and LeBron James can’t figure out why foes continue to disrespect his team. Per the Sun-Sentinel: “When Joe Namath predicted the Super Bowl win, that took the cake,’ forward Shane Battier said. ‘Everyone else should just give up.’ [...] ‘We’ve got enough motivation in this team,’ Dwyane Wade said. ‘We have a big goal in mind, what we want to do. We’re put together to win a championship. We’re not put together to make the playoffs. We don’t need any motivation from headlines or what a guy says. A guy is supposed to have confidence in his team.’ [...] The annoyance from the Heat is what seemingly has been a one-way street when it has come to respect. ‘I haven’t been able to figure that out, but it is what is,’ LeBron James said. ‘We fell into that category, of appreciating and respecting our opponents, but getting none back. But that’s OK. As a veteran ballclub, we understand that challenges that come with the postseason, that come with the whole season.’ Including Jennings’ comments, with the Bucks going as far as to re-post the guard’s boast on their official team Twitter account. ‘If they already had our attention,’ Chris Bosh said, “now they have more of our attention.’”

Wow, boohoo. Why are they worried about other team’s respect.. Just focus on winning.

its called controversy foo.! heat gonna win it all boy!

  • shockexchange

LeBron is right. The Heat gets no respect. However, opponents are totally in awe of “The LeBron Rules … Keys to Stopping LeBron James.”

  • KevinJohnsonFan

None of these words mean anything. Heat in 4. 5 at the most depending on how long they want to rest before the 2nd round.

  • Marcos Garcia

in other words be ready for a posterization on jennings

  • Caboose

Slam, see that sentence that starts with “The annoyance from the Heat..”? Just press Enter twice right before that. Easy.

  • bike

Jeez LeBron, drop the cream puff ‘we respect them, why don’t they respect us’ stuff. Just develop a far-away steely stare and just say ‘We will crush them. We will simply crush them’.

  • Markus437

    Lebron: “respect our authoritah!!!”

  • RayJr

I like how Lebron has been developing that “you don’t want to see me angry/I’ll prove you wrong” instinct like MJ and Kobe have. Makes me want to see what he’ll do this series even though a sweep is inevitable.

  • word

Everyone wants a piece of the King, learn to be one

  • danpowers

the bucks already have my condolences. thats gonna be one ugly first round exit for them lol

  • Ugh

I don’t think a team whose members cry when they have a winning record after assembling a super-team actually do respect their opponents. Nor do I think a team that turns it on halfway through the season respect their opponents. I think LeBron is full of it.

  • Drew

So by thinking they are going to win the series, that means they have no respect? Does that mean everybody playing the heat should just say they will probably lose to the heat? Would that make lebron happy? Everytime someone says they can beat the heat lebron gets all butt-hurt. That entire team just acts like everybody is being a bully to them.

  • The Seed

Lebron the fake tough guy, Lebron plays bad when mad, see NBA Finals vs. Dallas. Also Lebron is doing alot of talking like he is nervous. Can’t Wait, OKC chokes in the NBA Finals and Lebron act like the world is HIS now. GO KNICKS!!!

  • Teddy-the-Bear

take your esoteric knowledge and GET OUT OF HERE. GET THE F*CK OUT AND NEVER COME BACK.

  • nhm

monta is my main man and all… but i don’t see him playing in the 2nd round

  • yeswediit

LBJ just found out no team In the NBA respect them, of course theyre not, xpecially when you put a team together to destroy opponents, WOW really cry baby you just realize that .. the only people who like this cry babies its from hiealiah to keywest and a bunch of vanwagons around the nation … can wait to see KMART put his forearm on LBJ throat & then you goin to see him calling his dad MR DAVID STERN to make a complain about the hard foul thing .. GO KNICKS

  • Comment_System

oh shut the hell up lebron. you know damn well you dont respect the bucks.

  • GameChanger

    He’s not reading this.

  • Yi-Cheng Chen

    Hey, he’s just kidding!

  • LeClutch James

LeBron doesnt mean all players should admit they would lose to the Heat. He basically means teams shouldnt belittle the opponent just because they’re an opponent. You dont hear about Heat players saying they ould beat teams because they’re better. they respect everyone , but no one respects them.

  • Redd

    Well done..

  • 23…enoughsaid

Because heat are overrated and cherry pick more than people who pick cherries for a living

  • http://twitter.com/thursti_tyht Thurstian Tsui

I’m going to get flamed here even tho I’m not saying Lebron is right. But if Kobe or MJ said this people would’ve called em tough, actually kobe does have attitude like this. When Lebron says it bam he’s a bitch he’s a crybaby.

  • KevinJohnsonFan

Every sentence of that paragraph is complete stupidity. LeBron went into Boston in Game 6 last season and beat them by himself when most though Boston was going to eliminate them that night. That’s toughness. LeBron is talking because that’s what you do when a reporter asks you a question…you answer it. As for nervousness, has he played like he was nervous recently or did I miss something? You didn’t mention the Lakers at all in that little rant for good reason…because they won’t be in the Finals. They’ll probably be done in a week, week and a half at the most. The basketball world actually is LeBron’s now, where were you for the past 18 months?

  • KevinJohnsonFan

Defending champions who went on the 2nd best winning streak in the history of the NBA are overrated? Hilarious. What’s next, the Bobcats are underrated?

  • KevinJohnsonFan

All these internet dudes questioning guys toughness make me laugh. Especially a 6’8 250 pound player whose known for how strong and physical he is among other things. And who are you, The Rock?

  • http://www.facebook.com/OMGitsKINGDAVID Kinq David II

    God who cares?!!! F*k Lebum

  • jwallljr

haha i find it hilarious that Knick fans are so confident now. 1 playoff win in 10 years…Pathetic… 1 decent regular season and now theyre acting like they won the finals

  • jwallljr

Amare, chandler and melo??? Last time i checked those three were all stars and olympians… your ownership tried to be like miami and failed… 1 playoff win in 10 years…Knicks=bums

  • you’re a dummy

First off, you’re a hater. Second, you’re whining and crying as much as you’re accusing others of doing so. And “xpecially” lastly, what xactly is a vanwagon? Is that some sort of new car the rest of us haven’t heard of?? Post a picture of it I’m really curious. GO HEAT!!

  • you’re a dummy

A fake tough guy who could easily take you down while in a comma! How are you going to criticize someone for something you have zero ability to do?? I’d love to see a tough guy like you out tough a guy with LeBron’s size and strength. You’d for sure cry for your mommy tough guy. GO HEAT!!

  • Anthony Dixon

    Lebron should shutup

  • HEATfansFADEout

The Heat don’t get any respect because their whole hype is fake. 80% of their fans are fanboys jumping on the hot bandwagon. They only win because they hand selected a super team during time spent in the Olympics.

They will win a bunch of championships (due to the NBA’s severe lack of talent distribution…really a “lottery”??) and make millions but competitors know what they did and how weak their fan-base is so respect is highly unlikely. Sort of like Floyd Mayweather hand selecting his opponents when it is favorable of him to win.

  • The Seed

Lakers missing Kobe, its over for us. DUH!!!!. Also Lebron got a ring because of KD punking out. Lets see what happens this year. Also Bron scared, why is he worried about an 8th seed talking junk. WOW!!!

  • KevinJohnsonFan

Scoring 30 plus a night on 50 plus percent shooting is punking out? lol. Why would LeBron James, who blew through the league with his best season, be scared of the Milwaukee Bucks? Do you think about things before you type them or no?

  • KevinJohnsonFan

Right. The Heat pick which opponents they want to play every night and which players those teams can send out on the floor too, right? They win because they have 2 of the 10 best players in the world and a top 20 player. They win because they play great defense. They win because they have great chemistry. They will win championships because they’re the best team. Stop the ridiculousness.

  • KevinJohnsonFan

Saw the entire media session. The reporter put forth that idea of not being respected and LeBron just agreed with him. No crying or whining or whatever else some people think it was.

  • Aj

I actually understand where lebron is comming from!!!

And i agree with him, to start, there are many forms of respect!!! And what i believe he means when it comes to the subject of respect are
    1. unecessary comments made by other teams
Saying things like we can beat the heat any time!!! CHICAGO BULLS
    2. the heat’s run at a historic streak doesnt impress me!!! jason terry
    And the list goes on

Theyre a great team and have proved it day in and out!!!

Asking for the deserved respect isnt too much to ask after the HISTORIC season performance they put out!!!

If asking for the well deserved respect makes him a crybaby, then we glogaly as a nation originated from a culture of crybabies

The lack of respect has to do with pride first, every player that made it to the NBA feel like they belong there. What does he want people to Bow down to him like Stern and the officials do..foh Lebron go sit down somewhere.

  • http://twitter.com/HovaMike Michael Thompson

You gotta respect them. These dudes made predictions to beat them in 6 games. That’s disrespect.

  • Manny George

I know! I know! It MUST be annoying to have your butts kicked in by the defending Champs, seeing them win 66 games, seeing them win 27 in a row and seeing the best player in the world doing it better than ANYONE has ever done it. Yes….ANYONE! So, press ENTER 100 times over, so you drive yourself absolutely nuts!

  • Caboose

Dude, I was asking Slam to consider creating paragraph breaks. What the f*ck are you on about?

  • JustASortsFan

Mj’s teams won 6 championships. Every series an opponent said they would beat them. He never cried about respect. He simply went out there and proved them wrong. Lebron James is a poster child for whining and crying to get his way. That’s why no matter what he does hell never be the GOAT. Mj played in Chicago and players came to him. He didn’t run off to play with other superstars they came to him. Again I dont know if I said this, they came to him.

But they won’t choke this year. If you remember the ref. helped them win. Every-time Kevin walked on the court it was a foul.Yes, Harden / Kevin didn’t play their best. But never put that lie on Russell.

  • No Respect for LeBron

‘We fell into that category, of appreciating and respecting our opponents, but getting none back.’ wasn’t it LeBron who got fined and told to apologize to Orlando after walking off and refusing to shake their hand after they lost to Orlando in the playoffs. I have respect for players with game. The NBA changed and made up new rules to stop players like Russell, Kareem and Wilt from being so dominate, the NBA bends and forgets rules SO LeBron can be dominant. He’s the cancer of the NBA that needs to be cut out.
