Jerry Sloan Interviewed for Milwaukee Bucks Coaching Job

Last week, there were rumblings about this being a possibility. Jerry Sloan has now confirmed that he has indeed met with the Milwaukee Bucks‘ braintrust about their coaching vacancy. (In much less exciting news, the Bucks also interviewed Lakers assistant coach Steve Clifford for the gig.) Per USA Today and Fox Sports: “Sloan has been looking for a landing spot for quite some time, but he could be a tailor-made fit for a Bucks situation that has much in common with the Utah job he held for 23 years. Milwaukee’s locker room dynamic was shaky from training camp on, and the midseason departure of coach Scott Skiles and insertion of Jim Boylan as an interim did little to change the fact that the Bucks are in need of a coach who will command respect. While Sloan was reportedly being considered by the Brooklyn Nets, a reunion with former Jazz point guard Deron Williams is not on the horizon. [...] ‘Jerry Sloan said Monday that Milwaukee general manager John Hammond and Bucks executives Jeff Weltman and Billy McKinney all came down last week to his farm in Southern Illinois. ‘They came down. I was in Illinois. I’m back in Utah now,’ said Sloan, who splits his time between his farm in Southern Illinois. ‘But I wouldn’t want to make any other comment.’ Asked if he believes he’s seriously in the mix for the job, Sloan said, ‘You’d have to ask them (the Bucks).’ [...] Sloan said he hasn’t talked to any other teams besides Milwaukee.”
